Buy now or wait?

I'm looking to purchase a new RTV X1100C but wondering if there is any advantage in waiting for the 2016 model year to arrive?

As I understand the RTV line went through a refresh recently so I'm not expecting any significant upgrades to the upcoming new model year. I'm purchasing the RTV for work around my property and so it's not critical that I have it right away. I can wait until fall if necessary and still get the work I need to do done before winter sets in. Are there any issues with the current year model that would likely be changed or updated in 2016?

What say ye?

Good question. I've never heard of sales on these. Usually it's low percetage offers rather than price drops. This is from causal observation. Please chime in with your experience.

I have an '04 RTV900W. It has 2,150 hours on it.

I wouldn't trade it for one of the new ones. It has a nice big box, hydraulic dump, three speed transmission and all mechanical fuel injection. I use the middle speed (M) more than any other. The new ones don't have it, just H and L.

But that's just me.

my first RTV is an X1100C and i have had it about 6 months and have put almost 900 miles on it so far. I have since purchased an 2008 model 1100c with 700 hours on the clock also. so now that i have both and can compare i would say my opinion is>> the X1100C rides much smoother has more felt power to the wheels"the tranny won't stall". it is a well put together machine. the 08 1100CW doesn't have roll down windows rides rougher the tranny will stall if put in the right situation. the cabs are both really nice and the heat and air are EXCELLENT on both. the 08 is easier to service and the purchase price was much less than the X1100C. if i am in the pastures i always take the X1100C but the 08 just isn't that far behind it,especially for the price difference.

besides the smoother ride how does the speed compare between the two?

since my last post i now have over 1200 miles on the X1100C. as for speed difference I notice very little difference between the two. although the X1100C will negotiate the rough terrain at much higher speed than the 1100. since my last post i also installed a coast valve in the 1100 and now they handle about the same. don't forget that the cargo box on the 1100 is larger by a little bit also. I am happy with both machines.

what is a coast valve? it increases speed on the 1100?

a coast valve is a replacement valve that goes in the transmission to make the abrupt stops go away. took about five min to install. no it didn't make mine any faster but it did make the shifting much much easier
