Any ideas on best light for cab/instrument panel on the RTV? I know some of you have lighted switches which are very cool, but how about just lilghting?

We found some battery operated lights.

Sylvania Dot it Led ligths
and the long Linear lights

Put them anywhere. Long Lasting that is a fact !!!!

No wires, no switches.

Just push button and

...... two guns

Any idea where a guy might find those lights?

Wal Mart did have them. Some hardware stores have them.

EBAy & Amazon for sure >>>>

I even have these things on the inside of my tool boxes on my trucks. For at dark, great to find your tools that is needed.
Also, behind the seats of cars and last, but not lease, in my deer stands for after dark, I can find what I need to put back into my sack >>>>>>

Flexible Red LED strips routed under the dash along the leading edge. Wire into the the dash lights and you have a nice red glow lighting up the footwell area. Keep in mind LEDs are directional, before you adhere the strips, check your routing at night and 'twist' the strips until you achieve the best lighting for your purpose. Use a short strip at the shifter area. Make gear selection a bit easier at night.

If you need over head lighting, just add a switch into the dash circuit and LED strips of your color choice to the overhead cage supports. Only your imagination prevents you from lighting the interior of the cab.

Google LED strips and the choices are many. Strips made specifically for Marine use (think wet environment) are worth the extra cost.

yea walmart sells them little popup light like twoguns posted. they don't cost that much whats good is you can put a magnet on them and take them any wheres you want to . some have magnets already but if it dosn't just glue one on the bottom and you can stick it to the bottom of the bed if you need light to work on the engine at night.i'm never without lights i kinda collect them i think i have over 40 or 50 different flashlights and lanterns. my wife thinks i'm scared of the dark???

Option D:

I bought a pair of Warn trail lights (for ATV's) and mounted them at the back center point on the ROPS. One pointing into the cabin, the other towards the bed.

If I had to do it over, I'd strongly consider those LED lights others are suggesting. Mine have worked flawlessly, but red LED's do sound good. Hmmm, wondering if I should put some under the RTV for ground-effect lighting. Isn't that all the rage nowadays?

I bought one of the small push button interior lights (12 v) much like a cab light on the older trucks at an auto parts place. I never used it because I bought one salvaged with strong lights to put on my RTV's homemade console. I will probably make a console for my tractor one day and use it there but anyway it was cheap. It could be wired off the battery. bordercollie

I used two different lights run in parallel to solve my general illumination needs.

-First I added a switch for my interior lights.
-I wired a red 3LED fixture into the switch and mounted it to the underside of the roof. I mounted it to a 30 degree wedge I cut out of some scrap composite decking. The wedge was used to direct the light towards the dash.
-I then wired a switched white 24LED fixture in the center of the roof.

So when I flip the switch the red light turns on giving you the perfect amount of light on the shifter and dash. The red light won't affect your night vision for working at night. If I want to light up the entire cab I hit the switch that's integrated into the 24LED white and voila. I bought both of the red and white from autolumination.com for $3 and $13 respectively.

I'll try to grab a pic of the setup sometime here...

Here, Had to go out and close up the barn and while I was there I took this nasty cell phone image of the setup. You can see I used Two-Guns Idea for an overhead switch plate. I just need to cut off those bolts before I impail myself!

you can never have to many lights . my wife tells me i'm afriad of the dark because i collect lights . i don't know what it is but i just like lighting up the night for some reason or another.and when something breaks down at night you can never have enough lights where you need them most.

I used Bluewater LEDS same as I used in my bass boat, they work great and last for a very long time with no fading or discoloration like some cheap led lights. I only lit up my shift gates on mine because that's all I cared about lighting up....they could have been mounted anywhere and created lighting in different areas...I put mine up under the hood to keep them from affecting my night vision and so far I'm extremely pleased with them.
Here's a thread I did when I put them in

I've got 2- 15 Bluewater LED clear strips that I'm going to install for backup lights. I just need to look at the schematic to see where to tie into the reverse sensor wiring used for the beeper add on.

Please make sure to write that one up when you end up doing it. I'd certainly be interested!
