Door Mirrors

Anyone buy the optional door mirrors for the 1100 ? From the picture I viewed I was wondering if they would stay in place move with vibration and door closing. Also the interior mirror seems to have a very short mount. When I look into it I see half the head liner. Is there a longer mount available or is this a made up to your spec item ?
Going to the local glass shop this week to see if they can replace the drivers side glass with another piece and incorporate a slider. It will probably turn out to be the same price as a new door with a slider.

I had the Grote mirrors on mine and replaced them with the Kubota model. Like them great. More view and I believe it is the same as the inside mirror just a new mount. I did replace the flimsy screws in the back with small bolt and nut as one did strip when I over tightened. So be careful. Small bolt/nut/washer works great too.
Inside mirror, I added a strip of metal and lowered mine by about 6". Experiment with a extra strip of metal mounted on the mirror and just clamped this to your existing hardware to make sure you go to the right level for your personal preference. Does make the mirror shake at times but not enough to get excited about because the view is so much better.

I have a YJ with extra mirrors but not really sure how to mount them or if they would stick out too far. Factory would probably work out better. I can't believe they would be that expensive. Plus no new holes in the doors would be a good. The overall appearance is so well designed I hate to screw it up with a patch job that looks like it doesn't belong.

I installed the mirrors on both doors. They do move some when the door is closed. I suspect this is correctable by tightening the screws.

FYI, I called my local dealer about the sliding glass. He thought there was an aftermarket source for this, he was unable to find one. The cost of new doors with the sliding glass is $500 plus shipping which is another $80 to $100.

I just ordered and installed the Kubota mirrors. they seem to be good, however, I broke one while installing it and went to the dealer to see if I could replace it. They told me I would have to by a new kit for $55. does any one know if you can just oreder the mirror without the brackets?

JP1100;
What a bummer. They are only available in pairs ? I called the dealer last Friday to see if they had them and a price. They could not locate the part number. They called today with additional information. The message said to call them but unfortunately i was busy all day cutting and trimming grass. Note to self... call them on Turesday.
No answer on replacement glass as of yet. Sure hate to buy the complete door when I don't need it.

mine had a screw pull through. If that is the case a small bolt and nut will fix it, if you use the right size washers and like I said a small bolt and nut.

But if the plastic tab broke, not good.

Could try your inside mirror. If it fits, try pricing one of those.

I think it is the same mirror, just a different mount.

the mirror is totally smashed in a lot of little pieces. what happened is exactly what SpudHauler said. the screw threat came off and I was attempting to fix it when I dropped the mirror. It looks like the rearview and the side mirrors are the same, but I don't know if the just sell the rearview as I was not able to locate it on the web. It really is stupid to have to get a new kit with all the hardware just to replace the mirror. Agent Blue, the mirrors are $55 each and do not come in pairs.

I was at my local Farm & Home store yesterday. They have what look like some good quality mirrors, about 4x6 with steel or plastic backing for less than ten dollars. A quick tour with the mig welder and I made a couple brackets. I think they will work just fine.
