FIRE!!

And a hot one this one was!
A couple months ago we had some friends over & burnt a pile of trees, limbs, etc. in the pasture. We started about dark, so the "people pics" didn't come out too good. But here are a few of the heat...the fire was almost burned out when I took these. The last 3 are thru a stump, I thought were neat.

That's a fire alright.
I've got a large brush pile going that I need to torch one of these days. I'll probably start it in the morning so I don't have to babysit it all night. After a good rain or maybe even with snow on the ground. It's too far away for hoses.

Good pics.
I have one also that I'll get to later this spring. 1st burn was last fall. Plenty left after the burn, plus I've added a little to the pile.

Here's a pic I took last summer of my neighbor's "little" burn. He waited until dusk to light it and it had every volunteer fireman in the township pulling into his driveway to see what the hell was on fire for about 2 hours before word spread (lol). It was an old homemade garden shed and took out four rows of grapes before all was said and done. He does some pretty entertaining things....

I've got the burning pit full and another stack close by that I have to burn sometime. I've been holding off because of all the dead grass, low humidity and no rain. A couple of the surrounding counties have burn bans in place but so far we're still OK.

At this time of year I'm usually dragging downed timber out of the "thicket" but I haven't done it because I don't know where to put it. I have to get with the program soon or I'll have wasted all winter and not done anything much with the tractor. I need some rain and the grass to start greening up then I'll get after it.

You could have been an income producer for your county

You guys are lucky...in many states, the local Fire Marshall would give you a ticket for burning at night...;)

The reason is, that if the fire gets out of hand, it is extremely dangerous to fight brush fires in the dark...:(

Well I thought about torching my pile this last week but the wind has been blowing about 20 - 30 mph steady. It's been raining for the past 2 days and more expected tomorrow and into Saturday so I've got my paper, diesel and matches ready so on Sunday, Pyro Frank may get to play.

and the guy at the rural fire station out here recommended I start my fire at sunset so it would be easier to see any lingering hot spots.

I have an enormous amount of branches and trees that I would love to burn. They are all courtesy of our 2 "recent" wind storms. I can't burn though. The city limits is at the end of my driveway and I have to be minimum 1000' away from the boundary before I can light them up. I'm 600' short.:pat:

The local fire station 2 miles away will just come out and kindly put your barbecue fire out no matter how many hot dogs and marshmallows I have laying there.

Certainly not as much fun as torching things up, but my township has a place you can dump branches and stuff. I see people hauling stuff down my road on their way to the township building all the time, but I've never used it myself. The township mulches it up then.
