First mow of the season

2-4-D kills most weeds in the yard but be careful when using it on St. Augustine. My problem with it is that, since my spraying license lapsed, I can't buy it in bulk (or anything containing 2-4-D) so I have to buy it in quarts. Not really a hardship, just more expensive as I used to use a 2-4-D containing chemical on my pasture as well.
By the way, my yard spraying setup is similar to yours only I use a Fimco 30 gallon tank tow behind,

I had no idea that TX would require a license considering the amount of land that needs sprayed in your State.

Yes. When I first got my license, it was for 4 years with automatic renewal. They obviously weren't making enough money off that so they introduced a 4 year license with the need for 20 continuing education points over the 4 years, five per year. That became a real pain and when I let my license expire. Before it expired I did stock up on a whole bunch of chemicals that would be restricted without a license. They have long since been used up. The latest legislation makes a spraying license valid for 1 year with 5 continuing education points.
The main effect on me was that it restricted the purchase of larger volumes of chemicals containing 2-4-D and 2-4-D itself. But, strangely enough, while I couldn't buy 2 gallon jugs of 2-4-D or the blends, I could still buy it in quart bottles. What I do now is wait until it goes on sale at Tractor Supply or ACE and the then I buy a dozen quart containers. So really, the restriction doesn't make a whole lot of sense as far as I'm concerned. It's a little more expensive that way but not too much when it is on sale.
I then either use it straight or mix it with another unrestricted herbicide.
I do miss the ease of use of Grazon though. I used it a lot at the house and at the farm.

My license expires next year and it sounds like the new renewal program is like yours ETF. I'm glad its renewable on line because I could never sit still for a five hour class any more.
I think a lot of misuse has contributed to the harder licensing. My garden was likely "drifted on" last year by a crop duster. I was angry but didn't cause a commotion. If it happens again this year, It will be a different story.
