Hey Mark, I had done that job quite a few times. I would suggest taking off the front tires because it is a lot easier to get to each side. Or you can leave them but will have to turn the wheels sharply on each side. It is just a lot easier with the tires off. I also like to have the oil in a small pour container to fill those two. A long skinny funnel is handy to put the oil in the center one as it is under the hood and way down. Hope this helps. Our internet is still out but if I can help, just post and when I see it I will comment. bordercollie

Thanks for the tips Hun.
Just picked up everything now im 130 lighter in the wallet lol.Picked up super udt 2 fluids for trans and differential and outer knuckles all filters and oil plus a new funnel with a 5 foot hose on it.Ill reach anything now lol
Oil change first then if i dont hurt so bad ill hit the trans then front end.

Got the trans and engine oil done today.Im thawing out all of the ice from the front end then ill do that tomorrow. On a bad note when i was under there doing my inspection i seen my front driveshaft joints are history grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.Looks like a shaft change soon.Glad I keep an extra shaft laying around here.Ill replace it then rebuild the old one.I hope thats what what is causing all the racket in the front end lol.Ill keep you all posted and if you hear a lot of yelling and foul language youlll know its me cause nothing is going right.

I know that feeling all to well. :yum: I bet you did have to thaw it out, it was extra cold here 31 er so.

Doc Old man winter just wont go away.I still have close to 40 inches of snow on the ground here and just in the past 3 days we got about 12 more.Hopefully he will head off to Hawaii or austrailia soon and give them some of the good ol white stuff lol.I gave up for the day so tomorrow or sunday will be the knuckles front differential and the rebuilt drive shaft then hold my breath and hope nothing else goes.I knew as soon as I dropped a wad on dump bed Hydrolycs something would bite me in the Azz.

I hate to mention it Mark, but while you are under there changing out the front driveshaft, check that carrier bearing .I remember back on the '05 that the splined shaft coming out of the front end were really wore from that clattering yoke on it. It still had some grip but all that rattling isn't good for it. Anyway, you know if you have my luck that the carrier bearing will go out on the coldest day and on the side of the road....on top of a cow pile or else a moat of wet manure...... lol Good Luck, bordercollie

Well Fluid change complete.Trans engine differential and knuckles. That was the easy part lol.
I took off the front frive shaft spun the wheels and all was quiet so I thought it may have been the shaft.I replaced the shaft with the extra I had here and still noisy and you can feel a vibration right at your feet. When I had it apart I checked the carrier bearing and it did seem sloppy as heck but was hoping it was a bad u joint. No luck.Im thinking the carrier bearing is history.Bordercollie can you remember what the cost of that was off hand???The wife is giving me dirty looks now cause I have to buy another part lol.
Hopefully its just the bearing finally took a poop as I really just noticed last week it not sounding right. All fluids in the front end were about as dirty as you would expect for not being changed in several years but by no means filthy and no metal shavings in anything so thats a plus.

Mark, I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 for the Kubota bearing. I tried to find one at the auto parts store but didn't have any luck. If you could find one there it should be about $5 for an import. You may have better luck than me- that was a couple of years ago. bordercollie

I just called a friend and he said there was a major bearing company just outside of town.If I can find one there i know it will be a lot cheaper. If I do manage to fine one and test it out and it works well ill ley uou all know as I could be a very cheap option to anyone who needs the little POS

That would be a great find Mark. You are right on the name for it too! Have a good evening. bordercollie

Well all tore down took both front drive shafts off and nice and quiet.Carrier bearing was a bit sloppy but i didnt think it was sloppy enough to cause the noise or ratteling.Tomorrow ill head to the bearing shop and see if they have one that will fit.If not then ill make my donation to Kubota although i dont like to.Ill let you know how it all works out.Once done ill get images of all of the updates I have done so far as in dump system new light switch panel with fuses and new volt meter.Didnt think i needed the amp meter for it.I also plan on looking into seeing if there is a oil pressure meter for the kubota and to see where it hooks up or if an after market one would rig in somehow.

I bought one for a Kubota motor(not like ours as it was a 4 cyl ind.) at Napa. Was a straight up install for an Amish guy to power his shop.

well just got back.Hit the Kubota shop and detroit ball bearing. The bearing is a 20 mm metric ID Kubota wants 60 for the bearing and flange. The bearing wants 57 for just the bearing.Because of its odd size it is pricey any place you go im sorry to say.Had to order one from Kubota.Hopefully it will last another 8 years. Its just a damn oddball sized bearing. In the future ill look for other options maybe a midshaft bearing off of an import?Or Ill bite the big bullet and replace it all to the CV joint setup to eliminate all of the problems.
