Garage door opener

I keep my 900 in the garage as it is used daily. The pickup stays in the equipment shed. There is just no place safe for a garage door opener in a 900. Because of this, I use a remote dash mount switch on it. I started doing this back in the 70s when I drove a CJ5 jeep.

All you need is a normally open push button switch and about 3 foot of shielded wire. Open the door opener and find the switch points. One will be the common ground. Solder the shield wire to this and the other to the other switch point. Then add the new switch.

I hold the opener with a magnet under the hood. You can just cable tie it to the wiring harness. I put the new switch in the knock out for the direction signals. It’s been like this for 5 years with no problems. Even with power washing.

Pretty slick!

I can't find a pic of it right now but I keep mine in a Ram-mount cell phone holder in the same location a visor would be if it were in a car.

I bought one awhile back but can't think of where it is right now :( I went on e-bay and bought a homelink unit for about $20. I was going to install that as it gave me 3 door openers in a single unit. I have a couple different garages to park mine in so having 3 remotes in one unit would work nicely.

I used velcro and mounted the opener on the steering column housing....................holds very securely and can be instantly removed when washing the vehicle.
