Garden Update 19 April 2008
After a week of 6 inches of rain and the greenhouse plants screaming to get outside and wiggle their toes in the mud I said have at you little sh*ts!!

What a mess!

Thanks Greg and yes they are just plastic jugs with the bottoms cut off that used to contain pretzels the reason I use them is twofold, late frost but until they get strong enough it's our Oklahoma wind that raises havoc with the young-ins!! And it also concentrates the heat!

Not to worry Jim the answer to your ? is years and years!

I grew up on hard pretzels as a snack and we even made them, while I no longer make them I do buy them by the barrel full From UTZ's Country store
At 66 I weigh about the same as when I on active duty (165 or so) eat very little sweets and not much junk food but you just can't beat a fist full of hard pretzels 0 grams of fat no saturated fat and no cholesterol and like a dog chewing bones your teeth stay clean!!

Plus you get a container that you can store water in for emergencys, keep bulk sugar/flour/rice/beans/etc in your pantry shelves!! Try that with your alestra filled chip bag!!

Looks like a great start and I really like your pretzel protectors. That's a great idea, smaller at the top, but still room enough to grow, and larger at the bottom. Looks like they would be good hail guards also. Too late this year but I'll round some up for next year. I've always used tomato juice cans with both ends cut out, but the plastic jars look like the way to go.

About your flag lighting solution. I also believe in using whats available, what's on sale, etc. Were these left over from other projects or do each contribute some unique highlight or shadow fill capability?

Just curious. (I'm trying to get my tongue out of my cheek. It's crowded in there (boudin kolache and Cotton Bowl Twist).

Right on both counts and it took a while to get it lit just right, I'll have to get a night shot for you!

Best I can do tonight for the back yard Flag, I do have a larger version on the lake front side and it is undergoing an electrical redo as is my irrigation pumps due to a lightening strike.. will have it done soon!

Been cooler and wetter than usual so things are a bit slow! Except for the grass to mow as far as you can see

LOOKING GOOD!

We have the same weather here. 6" of rain the last few days and the high yesterday was 49.

Jim I use This Mantis Little Wonder (Echo engine 2 cycle) is 16 years old and runs /starts like a champ. If you garden I recommend it ***** and I don't recommend things very often!!

17 days of progress

Last day of May Garden
Spent all day yesterday weeding and replanting as needed, have already had radishes,onions,swiss chard,herbs, will can & pickle beets tomorrow```````etc. most around here are just getting started but we can have two seasons plantings this way if we do it right and pay attention to the WX!

That canning is a lot work and at the same time a lot of fun. It's very rewarding once it's in the jar and on the shelf. Great job with the beets!
