Good Luck those in the "Path" of the storm

When we got electric service dad got a tv shortly after and mom got a transistor radio. We got 3 stations but you had to run all the way around the house to turn the antenna pole till mom hollered it was right. running out barefoot in the snow was no fun at all.

Then come back to the set & stand there with yer hand in just the right spot, with your other hand up in the air. If ya moved it got fuzzy, or the sound went away.

Oh yes, I remember too. We got 2 channels and if you turned it just right and the wind didn't blow you could get a snowy image of the 3rd. Kids now adays wouldn't know how to turn one.My Aunt and Uncle got one of the channel master turners and didn't even have to go outside to turn theirs..... bordercollie

haha "town" ? Peanut Everyone left the doors unlocked in that "community' and the gun cases open. You could sleep with the windows open and only thing to bother you would be mosquitoes.... Like when they get in your ear while ya trying to sleep. Those "safe" days are gone for good but it nice to know that when a disaster such as ya'll 's in the coastal areas are facing happens , there are still some good folks around such as yourself and Two Guns- always willing to lend a hand. collie

i hate to say it but the only time people ever get outside and talk to their neighbors is when the power goes out after a storm. me and the guy next door are always outside talking to each other over the fence about our garden but everyone else stays indoors in the a/c. the two best storms that brought everyone together and outside was katrina and gustav oh i forgot about ike .when the power was out for weeks with those storms it was really nice to ride down the street and see everyone sitting outside under the trees and they would flag you down to ask if you heard any more news on the power coming on or if you knew where to get gas and food then the conversations would change over to other things like yards and everyday things. for gustav and ike i was the local tree hauler .sinse i was always going to the dump to get bricks and stuff i was the only one who knew the back gate was open so i cleaned my yard and hauled the trees to the dump on my way back i stopped at a guys house and helped him load up his stuff on my trailer and we hauled it to the dump. me and my son spent about a week going back and forth to the dump and stopping at peoples houses loading up their trees and hualing them away for them. the dump was empty when the storm hit and when it opened up 3 weeks later i had filled it to capacity we must have hauled atleast 20 or 30 trailers of trees and stuff back there. we even filled the dumpsters with garbage before the storm because the garbage pickup stopped due to the storm and everyone had full cans so we made 2 or 3 trips hauling garbage cans for everyone on the street.that was the first time i had ever went to the dump to bring something there instead of taking something out.lmao i did save all the oak and pecan tree logs and brought them bome for firewood though"me not stupid"lol

old isaac done went in broke up and come back down now we have a tropical wave sitting off our coast just south of the river. they say the cold front saturday should push it east.
