Have you ever hit anything with your RTV?

I have. Dang it.

Last weekend I'm loading up the RTV for it's weekly 'haul the trash up to the road' chore. But, I did it all different. Daughter and SIL were visiting and doing a little boating, and their car was in the drive. SIL parked the ATV in a spot where I had to back up further than normal to get around the ATV. So I have a full load (two 55 gallon trash cans and a full 55 gallon bag plus some boxes) ...so I can't see out the back. I was not going fast .....but I backed into the kids Honda Accord, like a love tap. LOL The bed of the RTV went over the fender and hood and scraped them pretty good, down to the metal. Uggg.

I was sick. Their nearly new car and I had dinged it good. When the kids got back I had to tell them and show them what i did. :hide: Daughter says no problem. Huh? She just happens to be our insurance agent. I asked her if she thought our homeowners would cover this? She thought it might, but .... She said didn't we write a policy on the RTV? I didn't remember that. She said you had a loan on it so the bank wanted coverage. Oh yeah, that's right. I hope it's still in force. Sure nuff it is. I pay $96 bucks a year for it. It's with Progressive.

Daughter filed the claim, claim agent got right back with me. No problem. Get an estimate. No deductible for the car repair. Was the RTV damaged, she asked. No. If so it has a $250 deductible. Anyone hurt. Thankfully No, so no issue there. Very good service.

They arranged for a car for my daughter and took her car to get it repaired. What I guessed might be $700 tops turned into a $1600 repair. I had thought of paying it out of pocket (before I knew I had insurance and when I thought the repair was cheaper). Man, glad I did not have to consider doing that.

I have to admit that $8 a month for insurance ($96 yr) is probably the best $8 I could spend. Wow did it save me. :blob_blue: Thanks Progressive. Very impressive service and reasonable rates. :thumb:

...So, have you hit anything?

Glad to hear Progressive was good to you. I have them on all my off-road vehicles.

Years ago, I bent the brush guard by hitting a tree or something (I don't remember but the bent brush guard sitting in the back shed is my reminder). Didn't have insurance back then but I just put a new brush guard on it.

Knock on wood, I haven't hit anything else.

I haven't hit anything YET..... But I carry insurance on each of my unlicensed vehicles thru Inland Marine. Haven't filed a claim yet so can't tell you how good they are....

So I'm the only dummy. :bonk:
I did miss a turtle that has been hanging out in one of our creek beds on our trail. He's beeen there for the past two weeks off and on, so far I've missed him every time. he doesn't know who he's playing chicken with. He better watch out.

No Doc, I'm one too. :) I backed the skid steer into mine years ago . It was a light hit- a little ding on the bed panel and so I beat it out. Also had a 500 lb bull calf bend the bumper slightly but hooked a chain to it and pulled it back out a tad.. ( That was my "05 model with the all steel panels and not just the thin removeable panel) . :) collie

I wouldn't say that. You just said RTV so I went with that machine only. ;)

I can mentally recall at least a dozen broken bones and over 30 days of hospital time from ATV wrecks. Funny how the machines fare so much better than a body when it rolls. In all the wrecks, I've only had to replace one set of handle bars.

Okay, lets open this up. Have you hit anything with any off road vehicle ....in forward or reverse? Or have you run into anything or anyone while playing pokemon. You can tell us, we won't laugh to hard. :D :yankchain: :D

I hear ya. Racing across a soybean stubble field late fall. Wife lost control of her ATV and it threw her off. Broke neck, broke collar bone, broken ribs, concussion, 2 days in Intensive Care. ATV was sitting about 50ft away on it's wheels idling. :)

Pokemon : I have never seen it. From what I gather it is a game that kids are playing where they have to move around with phone in hand to move the screen to catch something (maybe pokemon) ...so they have walked off a cliff, into traffic and all kinds of mishaps not paying attention to where they are walking cause they are watching the screen.
At least that is my guess. Anyone more in the know please confirm or correct where needed. tks.

Not just kids ....a bunch of 'adults' are looking like idiots playing that dumb smartphone app. (dumb smartphone?). Just got my 1st smartphone (used to have a BlackBerry way back when I was still working for a living). Found out I don't have enough smarts to figure out my new smartphone. The old 2004 RTV900 is still truckin' but currently basking in the shade out behind the workshop....too hot to work .... you southern folks can come get this heat you've sent us....anytime....soon.

Oh!..Did run into a tree with the RTV a while back but the snow plow sub-frame that hangs off the front took all the force without even a whimper.

Kanook we have enough heat down here and are glad to share. Last seven days in a row 100 or higher. Yea I have several outside projects but just laying around under new A/C this year. Cannot find a "round tuit" at all. When the temp gets above my age (75 deg.) I loose all ambition. Bryce
