Hello everyone

I posted on another forum that Todd from Hunterworks runs about some information regarding technical help and was asked to stop by and join these forums by member bczoom.

Here is my quote,.. I am too lazy to type so I just copied/paste

If anyone needs help who owns an RTV 500, 900, 1100 or the new 1140cpx I will do my best to answer any questions.

I have been a Kubota mechanic for quite a few years, even before the
RTV models came out. So I can help out with pretty much any model, and
if not I will let you know.

I will be moving over the topics I started other there to here for those to view.

Hey Jason,

Glad you joined us!!! Most of the RTV owners hang out on this forum. Todd has a wonderful site for other UTV's but they're more of the go-fast type. I see your handle is 07Rhino. Do you have a Rhino as well?

Brian

Thanks for the welcome,..

Just a rhino, was going to buy a rtv500, but decided on a used rhino instead. Better suited my needs for hunting, fun and the family, besides I am a go fast type of guy and also like the deep mud to play in :)

Welcome 07rhino,

Happy you picked us !!!! The Rhino is a great machine !!!! Nothing wrong with being a go-fast feller ~~~~

Iknow you will enjoy this forum. As you already know, it's mostly RTV owners .And also want to thank you for the help you are willing to show & tell ~~ I've been on other forums, asking questions about some of the background works and some of the adjustments on RTV's. Seems like everybody want to treat you like a " MISFIT" ~~~~ Happy you are here ~~~~

Hello 07Rhino! Welcome to our forum. And thanks for all fine-tuning suggestions for our RTV's. Mind you, I am definitely not a 'go-fast' kind of guy and am more than happy to be putting along in my RTV900 (locally known now as 'Katchup'). In fact today I was posting want-ads to sell my '07 Arctic Cat Prowler. It's definitely a go-fast machine, and fine for lots of applications, but not up to the challenges of my property. Wish I had known about the RTV's before I made the Prowler investment--but live and learn.

But very kind of you to drop in and really do welcome your input and advice.

07Rhino..............

Looking forward to your contributions...Like Onfoot, I too am quite content to poke along in my 900- Primarily due to the load hauling useage it is mainly is used forin the warmer season and snow pushing in the winter.Being mechanically competant but intellectually challenged (in some peoples opinion), I look forward to reading tech tips/proceedures etc.

Any advise you may have on bota B1700 or F3060 (which I also own) won't be ignored either.

Keep 'em comin'.......and welcome.

Welcome to the forum Rhino07.......Now you can play in the mud with Tommy.....Watch out for those red and blue flashing lights.......

Rusty Anvil,

no juss the blue lights the red ones are the fire department and the emt's. next time the guy ask me who i am i'm juss gonna tell him my name people round here call me "TWOGUNS"!!! and then i'll take aff through down the headlane again.it was fun that day though lmao man i had cars and trucks stoppin and watchin mud was-a-slingin hell the farmer came and replowed the fled a few days later and made an even bigger mess and to top it off the power company had to work on a power line and they had to drive thier truck on the same headlane that i was rideing on and they got stuck and had to get another energy truck to come pull them out . to bad the guy didn't go jump them huh??they could have juss went to his house and pulled his meter and said no woky on power pole no power for you!!! i'm plannin my next outlaw ride although i have to save up a bit because this one cost me $150.00 and 6 months probation they said i can't go back on his property or i violate my probation so i guess i got to go violate someone elses land then juss to i don't get caught violating the same guy twice in less than 6 months.

Last Monday evening we were 3/4 mile from the house in one of our greenhouses. We Iwent outside I saw thick black smoke rolling up from the direction of the house. My heart went in my mouth fearing for my newly rescued Shetland Sheepdog who was in the house. This was one time I needed speed out of the RTV - and it just seemed like it was crawling. To make a long story short, it was a brush fire that ignited arubbish pile of old roofing and tires that was awaiting disposal. My girlfriend and I ran a 2 hour bucket brigade of marine coolers and buckets in the RTV and the old Gatorto put out the fire - which was headed towards my neighbor's dried out hay field. (We're both waiting for the poison ivy to show up in our lungs from the smoke...)

Even though I rarely run the RTV over 1/4 throttle- I'm going totake the time to make sure my RTV is running tip-top and can get up and go if I need it.

So -07rhino - Thanks for posting the tune up tips.Your timing is just right...

Like all the older BX and B tractors you will want to keep that rad
CLEAN, for some reason these older models like to over heat.. did I
mention to make sure to keep your rad CLEAN:)

Any questions can be answered in new posts and I will do my best to answer them. I might not answer right away, but I will do my best.

Depending on the age, or serial # break, there was thicker pump/motor plates introduced into the newer models. What was happening is the rotating piston housing was warping the plates because of heat and runningmthe machine in HIGH range, HIGH load.

Just so everyone knows, high range is ment for no load, high speed(or lack there of Kubota humor sry)

that would suck cause i would latch on to most anything with my hpx and it would pull it in high and you telling me a botas is gonna burn up the trannyif you try it?? i think twoguns done climed the miss, levee with a load in the bed in high gear with no problem and thats with 27"589's on the wheels. i think it would be tter to say that if the bota has trouble in high to just drop it in low if you run a tranny in low forto long it has a dendancy to burn up too.

The need for speed

nearly every time a visitor see's my RTV900 for the 1st time, the 1st question is "how fast does it go?" When I acquired it a few months back, it never crossed my mind how fast the ground speed might be. I was curious as to it's pay load capacity, ground clearance, manuverability and attachments etc, but how fast in my case was of no concern. Now granted , depending on its usage I can appreciate how quickly it can get from A to B could be a concern for some users but it is in essence a miniature dump truck. It never seems to puzzle me why 1st time viewers always want to know its top speed. My response is always the same..."don't know, seldom drive it in High range"

Kind of like having a dually with a 5th wheel hitch in the back and being asked how fast it goes as apposed to how big a trailer it can haul.

Funny--I get the same question. And have exactly the same thoughts. Also funny--nobody has ever asked me how fast my Case 580C backhoe goes! :-)

Negative

Why because in [high range the HST-charge pump-drive motor-boost motor have to over come the weight of the machine, plus cargo terrain to start moving. Speed, decreases but torque increases,. but only within the HST running pressure and leakage within the system,.. with leakage there is HEAT.

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, the machines are coming with the new thicker pump/motor plates, so really there is nothing to worry about for now. BUT that still doesn't mean its a good idea to do it all the time. Thats why its a 3 speed transmission, to select the range according to condition,... Would you like to buy a farm trator with only 1 gear? Even belt drive utv/utility vehicles come with a select range transmission.
nobody has ever asked me how fast my Case 580C backhoe goes! :-)
For some reason this reminds me of that late 50s'/ early 60s' song about the Little Nash Rambler going "honk-honk..beep beep" with the driver finally asking the Caddy driver 'hey buddy how do I get this car outta' 2nd gear"

By the way...let me be the 1st then..How fast does your 580C go???????????

And have you tried putting it in 2nd gear???????

Add me on the list of owners who gets the " ultimate question " ~~~~~ Even these corn-feed men down here do the same thing. So it must be some sort of, " don't know what to say, but I'll ask the speed question for now" >>>>>

As for the speed thing, don't really care. A man could probobly walk or jog faster than the RTV runs in the woods and around the farm. >>>> In fact, one of the hands always says to others , ~~~" he in the turtle " >>>>

I've had it stretch out before, just to see, but hell, that was fast enough to kill a man on impact. Plus, one cannot see what in the devil is going on around him going some 25-28 mph on the side of a damncorn field ..... who want's to miss out on things ...... the older I get, life is going by to fast now !!!!!

That's it !!!! Going to step away for a moment and go re-load some cartridges.... can't quit laughing at this subject for some reason ....Come back whenI re-group myself !!!!

Just so you guys know, the new 2009 900's and 1140cpx have much better low end response and seem to be quite a bit torqier than past machines.

Right now I am looking into parts swapping availability to get the same for the results for the older machines, have to compare parts, pressures and the like. So if I do find out any imformation, I will pass it on.
