Hello everyone

Dogman, thanks for the welcome.

Wanted to let you fellas know after taking the 1140 for a test run this morning, I was so pleased with these new machines that I bought a camo 1140. Was delivered today at 3:30 and I've been running it around on our hills. Very, very happy.

First, I want to let everyone know the price isn't $13k. List was $15,850(camo) plus I think freight which brought the list price to $16,250(can't remember exactly). I got the 1140 with the plow and bedliner for $15,800. Dealer hasn't received plow or bedliner yet so they'll put those on when they arrive. Had to pay a $150 finance fee but got the 48 month term with no money down and 1.9%. Total payments are $345 per month. Was going to pay cash but at those rates, I'm better off keeping my money in my bank earning 4.3% and using their money for 1.9%.

As for the machine, night and day compared to my 1100 I sold this spring. I was hoping to go up inclines of 10' degrees in at least 2nd gear. It did it in 1st!! Cargo was me and my brother and though I won't tell you our combined weight, I'll just say we're not dainty fellas. This baby has pep. Steering was very, very nice. Shifting was at least 50% better than either the 900 or the 1100. Like the new extra wide tires as well. Also, the engine does sound noticably quiter than the 1100 or 900 I had but I can't say for sure(someone verify?). Turning radius feels like it's between 12-14' but that's just a guess.

Negatives were a rattle somewhere in the undercarriage and there is some rattles with the rear seat going over bumps. Doesn't take bumps as well as my 900 did but that may be because of the heavier duty springs. Cargo bed with rear seats up gives cargo bed only an additional 6" over the 900.

My wife says I should have seen the disapointment in my face after running my 1100 compared to my enthusiasm after running the 1140.

Still very early, but I cannot say enough about the new 1140.

Forgot to add what I consider another negative. There is no hand throttle on the new 1140. I know it has more power and works very well with the new transmission but sometimes I like controlling the throttle separately just like on my tractor.

IIn my opinion, it was a mistake to get rid of it.

VERY HAPPY FOR YOU MY FRIEND !!!!

Are you going to be able to sleep tonight ?

Since I added a negative, I'll throw in another positive. On the new 1140, there is no hand release for the gears. Now that is controlled by the brake pedal. I believe my dealer said that is standard on all new RTV's with the 'PLUS' transmission.

You can likely get a hand throttle kit from your dealer.I got one and installed it on my 900.

Kubota really addressed the complaints with the transmission that where out there. Our yard guys where happy to see that you can lay rubber with the new models. The other models are also shipping with the new changes. The paint scheme is slightly different on the bed, and there is a Class II hitch rather than Class I. What do you think about the procedure to go from two seats, to the expaned bed... pretty slick hua!

If I think what you are talking about, the decompression for the HST motor.

All RTV's that had the pulling release under the range shifter ALSO had it on the brake pedal. In my adjustment topic, that is what I called the VHT spring adjustment.

The majority of our customers get their beds Line-x, and I have seen a couple wooden box liners.

Yes, very slick. Love the slider for the rear cage as opposed to the Trans mule that you need to lift and get into the slots. Also really like how heavy the backseat is, Can really tell they beefed this one up.

Yes, I was talking about decompression for the HST motor.

Now if the previous models that had the hand release also had the break pedal release, I sure couldn't tell it on my 1100. Shifting was extremely poor no matter what I tried. Yes, I could get out of gear easily enough but getting into the gear I wanted was another story.

With the 1140, if shifting gets a little sticky, a little gas and I'm good to go. Same as the 900 I had but shifting is noticably less difficult.

I ordered the Kubota bed liner but the dealer didn't know the details on them and couldn't explain if it covered the bed in 4 passenger mode as well as the extended bed in 2 passenger mode. We'll see.

Hey rrroae (or other 1140 owners)- What's your impression with the 1140 so far? My significant other is a little more than interested - YES!

I must say how Impressed I've been. I've now owned every Kubota RTV model except for the 500 and can honestly say the 1140 is the best of the bunch(for me). I'm almost certain they've done something to reduce the noise of the engine(and they were loud) and it definately has more useful power, especially going up hills.

Shifting has also gotten much better but my machine still can be touchy especially getting in reverse from a cold start. One area I was concerned with was the longer length and how it would affect driving in our woods. To date it hasn't been an issue.

I will say it does bounce more than the early 900 I had but I believe that is due to the heavier springs. You will notice it and it will make you want to drive slower on bumpy terrain.

This past weekend we had in-laws up from Va. We had 6 adults on the 1140(2 front, 3 back and one standing on bed). Had a lot of fun driving all over our property and even took everyone to our local watering hole on the 1140(about a mile away on dirt roads). Machine handled well and showed plenty of power going up inclines. Now you're not going to go fast but your not going to strain the Kubota like it seemed was the case with the other models when you went up the slightest incline.

My dealer picked up my machine today to install the plow and bedliner and I'll be getting it back tomorrow.

Almost forgot. There's an annoying rattle somewhere in the rear under the dump bed that is pretty annoying. Only hear it when going between 1-5 mph and it doesn't happen all the time. Hopefully the dealer finds it and takes care of the problem. It's my biggest gripe so far.

THAT'S GREAT ~~~

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED TO HEAR ~~~

Thanks Tommy er Peanut, That is a great idea. I will tell the relatives about this . I know it will be a great thing inside and hopefully, it won't blow up in the car being in a can and all . We all know how hot it gets down here. When I was in college, I left a 6 pack of IBC root beer on my truck seat and wow did I have a sticky, glassy mess when I came out of class. All 6 had blown up!! At least it wasn't paint. Bordercollie

I'd like to propose that any member considering using wasp spray instead of pepper spray review the laws and possible reprocussions of your decision.

By using wasp spray, you may be breaking local, state and federal laws. Also, pepper spray is known to be non-lethal as it's an inflammatory agent. The same has not been confirmed about wasp spray. Wasp spray uses agents that attack the nervious system and as such, the results can be much worse. Although you may have stopped a potential assailant, you may have opened yourself up to both criminal and civil charges.

I prefer birdshot in a .32 myself. I have had wasp spray blow back in my face while getting nests in the barn before. It is definately unpleasant but no long term effects.

if i ever use the spry in someone face in my defence and they take me to court i'll just ask them would they have rather 17 rounds of ammo in them or 17 ounces of wasp spray on them? the ammo waon't wash off but the spray will. like the old say

BETTER TO BE JUDGED BY 12 THAN CARRIED BY 6
