Help on transmission!

OK! I just went out and looked at mine to be sure. the white filter is a HHK32-1670 the mustard colored filter is a HHK70-14070. also the oil fill on the dipstick is all the way up to the curved rib on the dipstick. and this is the same as factory level was. I also measured the correct amount back in when i changed the oil. hope this helps

another thing to check might be that little poppet valve that is depressed when you apply the foot brake. my book says to check and lubricate that if it gets sticky.

Texrdnec,
I have a 2014 X1100C and when I changed my filters I had to add the oil to the hydraulic tank under the passengers seat. I think the dipstick you have pictured is from the transmission that is under the bed directly behind the engine. I have a Kubota "V" blade on my unit and the additional hoses made it difficult to get the filters on and off quickly so I lost at least a gallon of oil. I did the same thing when I checked the oil and finally did a little more reading and determined the oil for the hydrostat unit was coming from the hydraulic tank. Hope this helps.

4 quarts later and it works again

That little tidbit of info should be tacked up somewhere because that is going to screw LOTS of people up

Manual clearly states to check the transmission oil level after changing those filters and it's not like it's common sense to figure rear filters on the transmission are draining a reservoir up front

on my X1100c the Hydraulic reservoir is completely separate from the transmission. texrdnec did you have to overfill the tranny by four quarts?

no, I added nothing to the transmission, I added 4 quarts to the reservoir under the passenger seat

transmission oil level is unchanged

evidently, everything drained from the rear filters came out of that reservoir, which explains why the transmission level never moved for me

that last time I pulled the filters to switch to udt2 was the straw that broke the camels back, got it low enough that it wasn't working right anymore

Texrdnec

Just checked mine also and the level was down 2 quarts this would be from the filter change I did in March ( first 50 hr service ) I didn't notice anything different but I bet the next time I changed them I would have.

Thanks to VA1100 for the information ( Thank You VA ) I to have the V plow and was told at the dealer that tank was for hydraulics to run it and all mounted accessories nothing to do with tranny ( service techs ) but thanks to this site I now know and it's why I always come back.

Thanks to all.

well I was wrong! after some investigation and listening to others experiences I found out just how wrong i was. the reservoir for the hydraulic is the same for the hydrostat. I guess the rear differential has a separate compartment. I need to add some also! Thanks Everyone.

After reading this thread I went out and checked my reservoir under the seat and sure enough it was low. I too had re filled the tranny but seems like mine was acting a little different when it comes to the engine brake deal. I had drained the tranny and changed the filters so I could put the sudt2 back in it but did not think that the hyd tank would have anything to do with that. Thanks texrdneck and everyone else on here for the heads up info. This has to be the best site ever for info on these rtvs and tractors. After lunch I will go fill that tank to specs and see what happens. Been working in garden this morning and it is hot and humid in the northeast Georgia mountains today!! Thanks again to everyone!!!

I filled the tank under the seat up to the full mark and everything is back to acting normal again. Go figure! Thanks again to everyone for helping me learn a lesson.
