Around the first of June 2012, I carried my 2011 model RTV 1100, which has 55 hours on it to my dealer. The problem was that the rear diff locking mechanism would not unlock.
It was under warranty. During the repair process, they cracked the transmission housing by over tightening a fitting. That required the entire rear drive and hydraulic units to be torn down and the whole housing replaced.
After almost eight weeks, I picked it up and it lacks the torque to climb some inclines it would handle with no problem before the teardown and replacement.
It now has a loud noise and vibration coming from the rear drive area.
The dealer still has it now. The issue for me is that this is basically a new $18,000.00 unit that has had a complete shop rebuild of the entire trans and drive unit. Since they have had it for over eight weeks with no success, I have no confidence that it will ever be put back to factory new specs.
They told me the Kubota rep was coming by Tuesday and they would see if he had any ideas.
Since the original problem (stuck rear diff) was a Kubota factory issue, and the trans and drive unit breakage was a dealer issue, it would suit me if the dealer and Kubota would buy it back. I would buy a new one if so. This one has a bad feel.
Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
