Re: HURRICANE --NEIGHBORS

i sure do have everythingi can filled well everything but my 55 gallon drumms and if it looks like it 's gonna stay on this path i'm gonna go fill them because we will need the fuel for the car and the generators for a few weeks like after katrina.

Re: HURRICANE --NEIGHBORS

well i went a few minutes ago to top the tank off in my car and they shut the pumps off about two cars after me they say they have to leave enough gas in the tanks for emergency cars and trucks if needed so with the gas in my generator and cans i probably have a taotal of about 40 gallons right now and my generator can run 14 hours on a full load but i only plan on running it for a few hours just enough to keep things cool in the freezer. i have a 4 20 lbs bags of ice in the deep freezer that i am gonna put into a ice chest and use as a ice box and i'll transfer all my shrimp to two deep freezers if i have to and just run them and let the other three defrost. i have 4 car batteries charging right now that way i can run something off my power inverter too like fans tv's or other small stuff instaed of sucking juice from the generator.

Re: HURRICANE --NEIGHBORS

Re: HURRICANE --NEIGHBORS

man it sure ain't lookin good for me they done moved the track tight over my house so that puts the damn eye comin right on top of me. i'm filling up every thing i got with water right now . i'm not really worried about the ice cause i have the generator so i can make some ice if needed while it'e runnin but i did get 4 20 lbs bags that should hold for 5 days in my 120quart chest and as the water bottle epmty i'm gonna fill them with water and freeze them and throw them into the cooler too if needed . hey feel free to give me a call during the storm to checkup but if i don't answer don't be surprised i have a bad habit of falling asleep during them.lol i'm gonna go out this afternoon and snap some pictures and make a video of what it looks like now and then i'll make another of what it looks like after .i did the same thing for katrina and man it was like night and day.oh well gotta go things to do . i'll be back.later.

Re: HURRICANE --NEIGHBORS

Good Luck to you too Two Guns. Even up here, our county was declared a disaster last time..we were lucky...we had power after 10 days. I hope your family the best .And to Tommy, I hope the best for you and your family too. I know what is ahead of you.I know how folks acted when it looked like the end of the world was coming last time .. be careful down there I know it will be rough. At least this time the Guard is there{I hope},. I hope your road home will becleaned up soon so you can return. Although the storm is going west of Mississippi,We have winds forcast here to be 40-70 mph so we may lose power tomorrow late although I believe we will get mostly rain.. It just depends on what side of the winds a person ison as to the damage done. Every tree we lost last time was blown to the south. So if any of you othershave time in the am ,check the wind forcast and protect property accordingly We will be closing up the shutters andchecking the generator just in caseand cleaning ditches for sure .As a side note on our neighbor bought 4000 gallons of diesel so they could continue rolling on the corn gathering this weekend and it was going up $0.10 an hour because of the Hurricane it was delivered at $3.56 non taxable farm Thurs. Good Luck and God Bless .. Bordercollie

Re: HURRICANE --NEIGHBORS

Thanks So Much Bordercollie ~~~~

As you know, we are in Concordia Parish, and yes, Concordia Parish is awfully low lying !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, the Sheriff over here had prisoners ( Inmates ) from two of our local prisons systems, doing the sandbagging to help prevent flooding when it shows up. They also had the prisoners in the ditches cleaning up debris and limbs that would slow down or clogg up water flow. Late yesterday evening , they were blowing beaver dams also to make sure everything was were it could flow.

Also, we are on the Mississipppi / Louisiana border, right on the banks of the Mississippi River. The Sheriff over in Adams county, just issued a curfew effective as of 6:00pm this afternoon. As of now, I understand our Sheriff, doesn't want to do the curfew thing right now ~~~~

Went out to the farm yesterday, and brought in the RTV, just in case I need it here. Full of fuel, and ready to go to face the world !!!!!
