when rolling on level or downhill under power tractor has a rearend noise kind of like a chattering whine does not do it going uphill. any thoughts? thanx
 
I'm guessing you are running a Hydrostat tranny. If that is the case i do notice a whine on my Kubota, that I think is normal with hydro. I wonder if you don't hear it going up hill because the engine is working harder and making more noise which drowns out the whine?
 
Gear lash. It's the sound of gears working against the engine instead of the engine working against the gears. A gear has 2 tooth sides. The drive side is smoother and "worn in" better than the driven side. It's worrysome at first but not damaging to the machine to my knowlege. My Kubota does it too.
