Kubota 900 RTV help - no power

I have a newer X900. bought new earlier this year. has about 400 miles on it is all.

ever since new this thing will barely climb a hill (40 degree) in low gear. it stinks bad when trying to climb. I know you can't floor it.. you have to back off the pedal. I have to use about 1/4 - 1/2 pedal for it to even make it up.. it'll hit about 5-6mph and barely be able to keep that up the hill. with any type of load (200 lb+) it will barely make it.

A month or so ago I changed all the recommended items for the 50 hour service with 0 change.

It'll barely hit 20mph on a flat road.

I use a fuel tank with twin filters to deliver fuel to all my equipment.

I'd take it in but the dealer is a 2 hour drive away.

pretty sad that a machine that costs this much can barely move. My neighbor has a old 1100 w/ 1500 hours on it and it will do circles around mine.

any help is appreciated. thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

Have you cleaned the spark arrestor in the muffler. That's a huge power robber when it starts to clog.

"pretty sad that a machine that costs this much can barely move. My neighbor has a old 1100 w/ 1500 hours on it and it will do circles around mine" .................... NOT GOOD

Time for a dealer trip. He should fix it for nothing, whether it's a simple adjustment or warranty repair. The longer you wait, the more resistance you are gonna get. 9 out of 10 readers of your post would have called the dealer long ago. Good luck.

True

i'll look at the spark arrestor but it all looks built in together.

i'll call the dealer.. just really busy all the time and don't have 2 days to be transporting around a new machine.

thanks guys.

My old style has a couple of bolts so it can be pulled out and cleaned. It is probably mentioned in your owners manual if that model can be cleaned.
We are glad to have you here and I understand what you mean about time it takes to haul the machine. If your dealer won't come to you for a courtesy check , I would at least call them and talk to the service tech. If I had this model, I would know more to say. Good Luck to you and best wishes with your new machine. bordercollie

This post has made me start thinking... the next time I buy a machine, I want a free courtesy call for a check up and maybe the valve adjustment included in the deal .. I got this on my Kioti tractor but didn't get it written down... baa on me.... Next time though I will, ha if there is a next time.... collie

I will recall that post when I get a chance at lunch or tonight..( I like it ok but the pto's lift isn't my favorite thing to operate) . collie

On the spark arrestor on the x900, there is a bolt on the muffler that you take out. I believe you are supposed to place it in neutral and press on the gas pedal while having someone tap on the muffler to break thing loose. I take the bolt out, tap on the muffler then drive it for about 10 miles without the bolt in the muffler. Does wonders, I had to do this before 50 hours.

Also I just put on the hand throttle, it works real good on inclines, i am going to use in for pushing snow this winter.

628,Can you remove the arrester to clean it or just have to take out the bolt and tap only? It does seem like I read that it won't come out but can't say for sure...

No you can't take it out. Maybe when the machine gets a little older, might look at replacing it with something else.

Sorry for the problem BUD.....Over time, have seen all of this straighten out one way or the other....Just a pain you have to go through it.....Talk it out here.....YELL IT OUT HERE...'We are here to listen....God bless...Dennis

I'm really at a loss on that. We've all taken them out and better performance was the result. If they need cleaned there should be a way to take it out. Why in the heck would Kubota change that? They'll find some folks returning machines if you can't get them to perform like the older RTV's.
Please do keep us posted. Is it under warranty? I wonder what the dealer would charge for pickup? he might not want to do it but he sure sold it to you. Just saying.

called a couple more local dealers and they didn't want to even look at it .. told me to take it where I bought it. people do move I hope they know.

so called them up they are gonna look at it.. they are thinking the engine isn't making enough RPMs or possibly some other things.

probably take it in next week.

I pulled the spark arrestor and some soot did come out. it does have a tad more power so that did help a little.

thanks all I will keep you updated.
