my coolant gage shows the coolant has warm up a little but heater dose warm up enough to feel it. Any ideas.

Damper for your heater might not be working, or the heat cool control might be stuck on cool.

I know that I am late to the party, however, the heater might be air-bound, which means that there is a large air bubble at the top of the heater. If you haven't found a solution to the problem post a reply and I will give you some hints to fix the problem.

I just got a chance to view your post. how would I go about getting the air bubble out

If you can remove the heater without too much trouble, then place the heater lower than the engine and start the engine. This will purge the air from the heater core. If not, then you are going to need to drain the system and use a tool like this Schwaben Coolant Vacuum Fill Tool. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben-parts/schwaben-coolant-vacuum-fill-tool/024948sch01a/ Once you use this tool you will never go back to the old way of filling a radiator.
