Kubota RTV 1100 & Blizzard plows

Anyone have a Blizzard plow on their RTV 1100? I just bought a 720lt Blizzard plow and want to get some advise when installing it. (Eg. Where you put the wires through, how did you connect them, pictures) Also can you put the grill guard back on with the mount on? Looks like I might be able to.

Thanks.

I have the blizzard blade on my RTV900. The solonoid providing power to the unit, I installed right near the battery behind the side panel and the wires routed along the frame to the under hood compartment. It does necessitate removal of the brush guard but with that big blade hanging off the front, the brush guard is not serving any purpose. Did your blade come with the joy stick or touch pad for controlling the blade movement? Mine has the touch pad but I would have preferred the stick. Mine came with the wiring harness from the solonoid to the front. If you don't have it, I'd order from it from Blizzard...It greatly facilitates installation. I suspect the 1100 install is similiar.

If you need pics .... let me know....and have fun in the snow when it arrives.

I have all the wiring and I have the joystick control. The little cable that you connect to the fuse panel, what fuse did you connect it to?

On my 900 there was a taped back lead (with female end connector) just hanging there ready to be plugged into. The Blizzard supplied harness laid right up next to it. That lead is hot only when key switch is on. I'm not familiar with the 1100 so it may or may not be the same, but I can't see why Kubota would change that.

I have seen a few connectors under the hood that were not connected to anything. Guess I will have to take my volt meter out and test. Was there something in the kubota manual about it?

There was nothing mentioned in the manual. But with the harness run to all the locations the plug you refer to was an easy connection, it just plugged right in without any plug modification. like you I checked with a volt meter and saw that it supplied 12vdc only when the key was in run position. It is just used to supply 12vdc to the touch panel (joy stick in your case). Power switch on the touch pad picks the solonoid to supply 12vdc to the hydraulic pump. You are going to love the ease with which that blade connects and disconnects...on or off in about a minute...just remember to disconnect the big plug before you drive off once you've detached it from the RTV:wink:

Can someone post a pic of the undercarriage mount? I'm specificly interested in the support that I believe is mounted to the front of the skid plate. I believe this is a common area for the support but it doesn't appear very strong for this purpose. I'm mounting a 6'6" Western Plow to a RTV 900.

Can get a pic of the mount on front of RTV without the blade attached tomorrow if this is not sufficient detail.

Tim1,
Here are pictures of a Curtis blade mount. Back section is bolted to the front so we install as one piece. Front bolts on with 4 - 12mm bolts and the back with 2 - 8mm where the skid plate mounts. These don't have to be as strong because a lot of the pressure there should be straight back when pushing.
The last pic shows the black bar used on 11's for this to mount to, it doesn't mount directly to the frame like it did for my 900. I haven't fitted this since adding the winch, so will know shortly if it fits back on with winch and eyebolts in place. Oh, I lied, the black bar fits on with 4 bolts, this bracket bolts on, with only the 2 outside bolt holes being used, to the black bar. So I quess they figure the grade 8 or 10 bolts are all that is required. Never bent anything in three years of plowing. YET!!!

Great pics! If you can give me a shot of the mount from underneath I would appreciate that. ALL of these pics are very helpful. Thank you

Hmmmm! That a totally different mount bracket than what I have on my 900. Mine is attached by 4 bolts along front and 2 bolts under unit at front of skid pan (6 bolts total). On second look Its not that much different. When I wrote the 1st sentence I didn't realize that Spudhauler's pictures were for a Curtis blade

Curtis plows are quite different from the Blizzard version. Blizzard look stronger.
