Well my nose is going to get bloody.Anybody want to buy one of these stay away.I have tried hard no power heavy built to many cables and dealers seem to not know how to adjust them.I almost got killed in this thing.Well I got a flat left rear found hole and fixed it good to go.Well I was going to add tire dope to the other wheel and its ready to fall off.Wheel nut is tight I don't know where it is loose yet.I know you all have had problems with u joints no way this thing would hold a u joint very long I don't care what kind you bought. My wife is going to kill me I told her this was the last one .Now how can I face her. I thougt this would be ok being japan maybe wrong. joe

Hi Joe. I'm sorry to hear of your problems . I wish I could offer suggestions but I only know a little about the old type 900's. If I remember right you have the new design ? Fill us in and we will try to help. Check on Messicks Eqpt. site to get a diagram of your models troubled area and that may be helpful figuring this out.It could be a bearing going out etc..
I'm glad you caught it before the thing fell off. bordercollie

wow Joe,that sounds bad! sorry you are disappointed with your purchase, but the folks here on this site are a treasure of info so let us help you if we can and maybe we can make your experience a little less traumatic. I have an X with almost 3000 miles on it and just had a wheel of of it a few days ago for a flat also. while i had it up on the jack i was checking for play in the bushings and other stuff. the bearings on mine are ok so far and i do carry heavy loads almost daily. is the axle loose at the center nut or is there play in the bearings??

I am not trying to be a smart Alek or anything else, but would someone explain what a troll is on a forum?
A troll is someone who creates an account on a forum and then just stirs the chit and posts BS.
I do not think Honda Joe fit this. He has been here since aug and has made other posts.

I'm sorry for the problem honda joe and hope you can get it resolved.

Yeah, I had to ask what a Troll was too. I was accused of being something similar but the term Bully was used when I came on this site. But that seems to have subsided.

I don't think Joe is a Troll either. I think he is very disappointed and frustrated with his machine right now. I too hope it works out for him.

WOW a troll never been called that before.Anyhow I don't have time for that foolishness.Back to the problem seems this has much movement in the pins at the end of the a arms two pins at knuckle.Cked brg ok cked hub on axle ok both tight no movement. But with wheel back on no up and down movement but back and forth movement about 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch on one side other side not as bad.So my question would be for anyone with IRS would they jack theirs up and ck theirs to see if this is normal. Thanks others for your help.JOE

Don't have IRS but have heard this discussed before. Hopefully someone will chime in that's had this issue along with their solution.

Joe. i have been following this issue for quite a while now. if you look in the archives you will see that others have experienced this same wobble between the bushings and pins in the IRS. i don't have much in mine and it is possible i just don't think it is a problem as long as it doesn't get worse. i have over 2400 hard miles on my X1100 with heavy loads every day and the wobble hasn't increased or been a problem yet. as for the power i noticed my power and speed, transmission shift all improved as the machine broke in. i also notice a slight difference when i did my first fluid and filter change. i hope we can help you get the problems worked out.

i should add that at my dealer the RTV guy is an enthusiastic young fella that had already addressed some of the suspension problems by putting machine washers in front and behind the pins where the A arms attach to the frame. that must have took care of the clunk that some early RTV guys were hearing because i never had that issue. i think i am lucky to have a young fella that takes the RTV seriously and has made it his mission to make them perform.

I also noticed a slight improvement in shifting my 900 when I changed the fluids at 200hrs using SUDT2 Kubota fluid.

rtv shifting

You should adjust plunger for better shifting helped mine about 50% much better. Also dealer told me all the new rtvs have syn fluid. But until unit is warm you will see no difference grab a hold of back of unit it should feel like a loaf of bread when warm.JOE

Joe. something i thought of today while hauling 500 lbs of cattle cubes and towing a round bale 1500 lbs. best speed i could get on 3% grade was 22 MPH. with the engine off and the bed raised put a brick on the foot throttle or have someone hold it against the stop then check to make sure the throttle linkage on the fuel pump is against its stop too.

Aurthuritis

Well your a old cat man never worked on many cats but did work with a fellow that was. Very smart man learned much from him.Joe

From what I have seen it could be one of two things. One is the spindle nut has come loose and needs to be torqued. Or two the wheel bearing has gone bad and needs to be replaced. The spindle nut is the easiest fix.

hondajoe,
I had my machine, an X1100C, back to the dealer and they said that the play between the bushings and pins was normal. It felt excessive to me so I made some new bushings out of cast nylon. There is also a spacer that Kubota puts behind the inner bushings, front and rear, to remove the play at that point. This is something they did after a certain S/N. Take a look at the thread "RTV-X1100C information" it is on page 5 now. I posted some pictures of the new bushings and have the spacer information there as well, not sure how to link that from here. I'm doing my 200 hour service now and have not noticed any wear on the new bushings.
