LEXINGTON, N.C. - A Davidson County man died Tuesday in an accident involving a tractor, according to authorities. Larry Thomas Alien of Lexington was mowing an area above a large ditch when the tractor slid down the embankment, rolled over and trapped him underneath, investigators said. The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said rescue personnel freed Alien from the tractor but that he died at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Bud Sink Road.

this serves as another reminder to be safe out there. Especially near ditches or drop offs of any kind.

It also reiterates the need for a roll bar, and the importance of wearing a selt belt when you do use your Roll Over Protection {POPS}.

I also saw a news blip where AJ Foyt (I think it was) rolled his dozer into a lake. He knows the cage saved him, but getting out of the cage underwater was tricky. He admitted he did panic. Which is very understandable.

Just goes to show us that it can all be over in minute without a thing we can do about it. When the good Lord wants us he'll take us so make sure you tell those around you how much you love them everyday and live life to the fullest. Thanks Doc for the reality check.

Here, here, ditto !
Any death is a tragedy, what makes it more so is that in the vast majority of cases it due to ignorance or taking risks, cutting corners or doing things you know you should'nt but do anyway because you've got to get the job done.
Having had an accident when a cow crushed me I nearly lost my life and was told I'd never walk again.
Luckily I'm such a B that I would'nt accept it and walk fine now.
It was my own fault, I should'nt have got in behind the cow. I tried pushing her into a crush, slipped on the muck and as she reversed out she tripped on me and sort of sat on me. She rolled a bit and scrabbled around on me which did'nt do me much good either before she managed to get up and I wriggled out under the race bars. I lay there for over 4 hours unable to move and one of my ribs was busted and pointing in my lung, I really thought I was going to die. All I could think was what a pratt I'd been.
Try claiming compo when it's your fault as well.
Oh, so it was your fault was it ?
Tough ! You should'nt have done it !
Don't take risks, it really is'nt worth it.
We all tend to be macho though and think, "I don't need help" or "this hill isn't that steep".
Sad but true !
