My RTV is a block of ice.

Had to cross a creek today, multiple times. (Firewood is on the other side of the creek).

Fired up the RTV at 12 degrees.

Crossed the creek once to see how it would go. Needed a test run before I put a trailer loaded behind it.

Broke through the ice and it felt like I was driving on cinder blocks.

Still need wood...

Strapped on the trailer and did it again. More cinder block riding.

Came back with loaded trailer. I'm really worried now since I have big, sharp blocks of ice slamming the underside of the RTV.

A couple trips later (and I now have firewood at the house) and I look at the RTV. Everything below the floorboard is absolutely caked with ice.

What a frozen mess. Ice caked on everything. Can't even see things like the boots to see if I put a chunk of ice through them.

Pulled it into a heated shop and will let it melt overnight. I do sure hope Tommy's stick-stoppers saved me. I did pull out a big block of ice between the front and rear stopper, sitting on the boot.

Hey bczoom,

Gotta have faith !!! You will be OK. ....

We just started getting sleet, frozen rain, and snow. Yes, Right down here in Louisiana
at 4:30 pm today, it started .....
Bet the gators are dug in deep for this >>>>

Maybe, my RTV wil see some white stuff. All it knows is MUD !!!!
Did see snow about four years ago. While it was sitting on trailer. Did not get enough snow to unload .....

Peanut should be at the drafting table designing some serious RTV

I broke through some ice on a few big puddles down at the Amish place 10 days ago with my backhoe. Some of that water is still froze to the chains after being in my building for a week. Other than tearing boots you should be fine. The axles turning will keep the buildup from getting too bad. The drip when you park it will cause problems. Melt it off overnight and look it over. My snowplow gets pretty bad at times till I pull it in and turn one of the salamanders on it.

It's been sitting in the heated shop for going on 2 days now. All the ice is gone as well as the melt.
I'll be crawling under it later today to inspect boots and such.
Still damn cold here with snow coming down at about 3/4" per hour. Will need to plow the driveway later today.

Snow coming down here too. Not 3/4" an hour though. Very light snow but it does add up. I might get to do a little plowing myself if it keeps up. I use the tractor and no cab on it so it will be cold.
What do you plow snow with zoomer?

I normally use my Deere. 6' blade on the back, loader on the front.

My Honda Rancher has a plow but I don't use it much.

And before y'all Kubota tractor owners think about picking on my Deere, around here, Orange and Green do get along. Here's proof. :letitsnow:

I have to agree when I put my JD mower in the barn beside the L 4400 they look like big and little brothers just multi-cultural. Lol

Hey, Hey, Hey .................. There is NOTHING wrong with a John Deere !!!
I was Deere first, never left !!!

We wear GREEN in the fields !!!!

I keep my two separated. My Kioti is at daughter's and son-in-law's property, JD mower here at home. Hope they don't squabble when we combine homes later on!

YOu know what is nice about ya'll folks up there.

Get your RTV loaded with ICE & SNOW, Bring it into a warmer climate and walk away. Snow and ice turns into water and falls right off, when you return,
....... your machine looks like new again.......

........... But , When WE down here in the south MUDD up our RTV's & trucks, we pull it up in our barns / carports / shed etc .... , walk away and return, we still got a muddy machines . Just that simple. And if we stay gone to long. The mud gets even harder, expecially the gumbo !!!

My wood is processed in the warmer months, at least a year or 2 in advance.

The woodshed location is why I occasionally have a problem. I did cross that same area yesterday using the ATV and trailer. That time, I didn't break through the ice.

Yea, the snow and ice falls off the RTV and it's clean again because it didn't spend time on the road.

Now, our road vehicles... That's a bit different. Your trucks are muddy (OK, caked and I'm sure that's nasty). You also may prefer it to what crap our trucks get in the winter.

In the winter up here, they have all kinds of stuff they spread on the roads to take care of the snow and ice. Around me, they use:
Cinders - Basically half-burnt coal. That does wonders for your vehicle.
Pea gravel - Perfect for dinging your paint and tearing apart the underside.
Salt - Well, that's got to be good to cake on your truck. The white film is so thick you can't see through it on the windows.
Calcium Chloride - My favorite. They spread it on the roads as a liquid. Guaranteed to undercoat the vehicle. Oh, and you want to talk about corrosive! Eats transmission and brake lines.

With all that stuff on the road, yep, it melts the snow and ice. That leaves a nice liquid layer of all the aforementioned plus whatever mud has been kicked onto the road from the plow trucks ripping out everything within 3' of the pavement.

Thought I had replied to this ealier. But here we go again. ..........

With all that, it's a wonder you don't wear bio-suits.
Hope you don't let your children run around bare-footed ....

Sorry I bitched about the mud.

Think we will live longer >>>>>>>>>

That's odd. You did give that reply and I even replied back to that post. Seems we're missing some posts.
