Hi, I have been reading a lot of great information on the forum. I just bought a new RTV 1100 and i:thankyou2:t will be delivered on Friday, I can't wait!
I plan on using it to do chores arount the house, feeding horses, cutting fire wood for our central boiler, snow plowing.
I have 2 questions. I have only been able to find a limited amount of wheels on line, can some one give me a good resource?
I would like to get a winch and want to know which one is the best to get, how many pound pull is needed, also would like a remote.

Thanks

Congrats JP. Of course we need pictures when you get it. Give us a little idea of where you're at.

edit...............oh yeah Welcome to Net Tractor Talk !!!!

Welcome to the forum!

What kind of tires/wheels did you get (OEM)? Looking at your needs, it sounds like you're in a place with all 4 seasons. You'll want tires aggressive enough to be able to dig when needed, but not so aggressive that it tears things up when the ground is soft (e.g. Spring).

The weight of the RTV is another consideration. Much of what you'll be seeing online is made for ATV's or other light off-road vehicles. You'll want tires/rims strong enough to handle the weight.

For a winch, I like Ramsey and Warn. Do you plan on mounting it internally (in the provided "cubby hole" or externally? If the former, most mfgr's make a 3000# that will fit but I believe either Ramsey or Warn now makes a 4K# that will fit in there. If external, I'd go with a 4K#. Wired or wireless remote is very handy. My needs dictate wireless.

Congrats! :tiphat: And welcome to Net Tractor Talk. Sure sounds nice. You made me drool a little ..... one of these day I'll have an RTV, but for now I'll be waiting a bit.

Guys, please post links to tire resources right here in this thread. It's okay and strongly encouraged. I had not considered that many tires of the right size are made for lighter ATV's, that is a real consideration. Be careful out there.

I'm sure we will, but he mentioned wheels. JP1100 - Are you looking for wheels, tires or a combo set? An idea of your location gives us a better idea of your weather which is a consideration. Are you going to be on lawns or other areas you don't want ruined or will you be sticking to woods and hard-pack surfaces and can therefore go more aggressive?

Thanks everyone!

I am intrested in wheels and tires. The OEM tires I got were the ATV style. I was a little concerned with the ground clearence when I saw it. I will be mostly in the woods, mud, snow, dirt, and hard pack. I live in upstate New York and get all extreems of weather.

I got to see it on Monday and drive it around the dealers lot. a lot of the problems of the older units, that I read on the site, seem to be worked out on the 2011. I can't wait to get it tomorrow.
As for the winch, I would like something with a remote.

Thanks again
Joe

Did it come standard with sliding side windows ? Its the best option I have seen so far especially with such a tight mostly glass enclosure. No doubt the best UTV available... enjoy !

yeh, it has sliding windows on both doors. they are small but get the job done for sticking your hand out the window to get the mail, wave a car past, and ventilation.

May I suggest you give the OEM tires a try before swapping them out? The ATV style work well for most. I'd hate to make a recommendation unless/until we see why the OEM tires don't work for you. Taller tires can cause issues that may negate their value of added height (rubbing, camber...).

hi I have a 2009 rtv 1100 bought new so I have 2 years or use . It is a great machine that I love but have the same problems as you,
I put a snow blower on mine that works great exept I also found clearance issues. I put a 2 in. lift kit on mine that helps some. I then put 26in atv tires on and found they cut my speed down a bit but worse was the atv tire have a load rating of 465 lbs and soft side walls which causes rolling of the machine and makes it almost undrivable. I had to put the factory ones back and am now looking for 26 in tires with600 lbs rating , so far no luck I may look into tracks which give 3-5 in lift but also a speed reduction of 30-40 % on a machine that is already slow.
As for a winch I put a 4500 lb winch on a reciever mount so I can use front or back. The first time I used it when I fell through the ice on a lake shore It powered out and I needed two quads and their winches to get me out, so I think a 5000 lb winch would be better.
