Brought home my RTV 900 a couple of days ago!! 

I'd like to thank everyone on this forum, I usedthe knowledge shared here to make one of the most informed decisions ever.Mine's the 'camo' version with a cab, dump bed, & plow. It's definitely crying out for accessories! 

Here's some of the things I've found with your help.

[*]Spark arrestor - removed, cleaned & it's sitting on the shelf.
[*]Stick stoppers - I'll be in touch Tommy.....
[*]Fuel cap - yup, it leaks. Anyone know how to get the stain off the side?
[*]Gauges fogging - not until I gave it a bath, then all of them fogged up. Waterproof gauges would have been a nice design feature.
[*]Seized up dump bed, someone posted this 'problem'earlier this year- turns out that neither the bed dump or the plow hoses were plugged in.
[*]Front drive shaft rattle - I wasn't worried because of it being common & the detailed re-fab that's described in the forum. On closer inspection I found that one of the U-joints is missing the cap & needle bearings. I'll have to replace the whole shaft. Neil, do all dealers have set prices or should I call you at Messick's?

I'm going to send out that accessory pageas my Christmas wish list!

I definitly agree with the ROPS air intake, the filter was dirtier than my shop vac. Also, someone had mentioned dust coming in the back of the cab. That can be fixed by removing the snaps at the top & bottom and using velcro, sew it on the canvas & use the sticky stuff on the cab side. It should also help keep thecold air outwhen plowing.

I've got to be careful on tire height, It'll be spending some of it's time in a garage with a standard height door.

I do need to learn more about the trans, it is starting in gear (didn't do it when I test drove). I was thinking about getting the service & parts manuals to help me learn more.

Did you purchase this unit used, if it is new, the switch is still under warranty, or should be !!!

YES, YES, YES,GREAT INVESTMENT, GET THE MANUALS, MESSICKS GOT THEM !!!!

Dust willfind it's way, I don't have a cab, but do have a sliding back glass that helped on some noise and dust ..... I really like that slider. 

But the high rise would be the FIRST investment I would make ~~~~

i'll do a set and put them on the side that way they will be ready for ya. don't forget i do bedrails too now.

Congrats on your RTV and welcome to the forum!!

The "start in gear" is due to the switch on top of the tranny being stuck or possibly bypassed if the machine is used.

With your cargo box in the up position, look at the top of the tranny. There's a linkage and a switch right on top. Wiggle the shift lever to see which linkage is moving if not sure. Take a look at that switch. If it's stuck closed or has been bypassed, it'll start in gear.

WELCOME RICH, Yea ,Two Guns is right.. We will be glad to help you spend that money by recommending accessories.I buy all mysupplies from Messicks now and just get it shipped to me so I keep extra supplies on hand..This makes lifeas easy as the RTV did. I have 2327 hrs on my Feb 05 RTV and would have a hard time doing without it. I agree on theshop and parts manuals .I waited almost 3 years to spend that money and regret not buying them when I got the unit. I just had no idea this machine would stick with me thru thick and thin. During it's younger days the "Hoss" mainly had trouble with the driveshaft. Asthe hrs progressed mostly bearings and rear ujoints. I have gotten thru them thanks to Two Guns and BCZoom, Tommy and other members..I change oil and sudt regularly and use Kubota filters.How many hrs are on your machine and of coarse what do you call it? It's a used 2005 'bota with 179 hours that was kept in a pole barn. Other than the broken U-joint, it's in great shape. First on my list is changing out the fluids & filters, ROPS intake & manuals.

When I was cleaning it up on Tuesday, I had 3 neighbors stop by & asked me to plow snow for them. I have to get the drive shaft fixed! 

I also need to re-fab the shoes on the curtis plow to keep the scraper bar out of gravel. It looks like the scraper bar istaller than the shoes were designed for. I was thinking of a larger 'puck' and longer shaft. My buddy is a tool & die guy and can send it out for heat treatment to harden it after it's machined. I don't have a price from him yet but if anyone else is interested, let me know.

I haven't had time to look at the neutral start switch yet.

Rich,

Is the scraper/wear bar adjustable? On most of my blades, it's mounted via carriage bolts into an elongated slot on the wear bar. Can the wear bar just be slid up?

I put some shoes on my tractor scraper blade. I think Tractor Supply (TSC) had the shoes there pretty cheap.

We're all free to price things as we like, typicaly we're alot cheaper than most local dealerships, and within pennies of any other dealer that sells online. Our service is outstanding, we've got a great group of folks that help intenet / phone customers. 877-260-3528.

Don't care whatis purchased , what-ever it may be,I will ALWAYS believe that service is everything !!!! PERIOD !!!

I would rather pay much more, and get great service, than to get a " deal " or " discountitem " , and be left out in the cold for the wolves to pick on !!!!!

We've all seen folks try the " discount " filters, and items of that nature.... Makes one think if theywould be the caliber of people that would purchase a " discount parachute "or " one off the clearance rack " and bail out of a aircraft >>>>>
