oil capacity

2021 rtv1100c changed engine oil and filter at 99 hours. Understand it will require 4.3 quarts of oil per owner manual.
Drained hot and let drip for 20 minutes. Poured in one gallon and checked on the dip stick and it's at the completely
full mark. ?? I did not measure how much I drained.
So what's the deal with this? Anyone have the same problem?
I never though about maybe the stick is wrong?

Did you also change the filter? Did you run the motor so oil would fill the filter? If not, I would guess that is the reason for it showing full with just one gallon.

If the level is between the full and add mark you are good to go. Overfill will damage the engine more than a slight underfill. Start it let it run for a few min then shut off and immediately check the level and note the dipstick. Let it set for an hour and recheck to see the differences. If between add and full your ok after a long waite on level ground.

The owner’s manual of my RTV 900X specifies how much oil is req’d with an oil filter… and if I put that much in it…it would definitely be overfilled.

I was suspicious so called the dealer to confirm the oil dipstick PN…and the one I have is correct. I went to the dealer and measured the length and compared the marks of my dipstick with another new dipstick on a floor-model…and they are the same.

Conclusion: Don’t trust the specification in the owners manual…. use your dipstick to install sufficient oil to be in between the High and Low marks….and be happy.
