What is your opinion on a Can-am ATV ?

A Outlander 650 X mr ?

I am a Honda man since 1967 ....

Always have and always will have a Honda.

BUT, My youngest son has got his eye on one.

H-D guy here. My tired old legs are getting to bad to hold the Road King up these days. Nothing wrong with a Can Am (I'm guessing), but, if your son is set on a three-wheeler he might also look at a Honda Trike. In any case, a motorcycle safety course should be part of the purchase. Just offering my humble opinion.

Two guns,
I have been riding atvs hard for 17 years, and I'm a Honda man through and through. Muddling is one of those things that is absolutely horrible for an ATV, but I have a good understanding of both brands.and while both WILL have engine problems the cvt trans is not great, while Honda has a great sintrifical style clutch. I feel that is the weak point of the can am brp jmo

Told him to get a Air Boat, and we would throw water and mud on him ....
And just " FLOW" across that mud pits and swamp holes out there .....

And when he got tired of "muddin", he could use it to hunt gators .....

I e-mailed your son and told him it's OK to just use your RTV when he wants to go mudding. Also told him it's cool to return it dirty since you like to wash it.

I agree that mudding is hard on them. Maybe a used one for such activities? Something cheap to buy and maintain? I would have a tough time spending that much money and then dropping it in a big mud hole. Just my .02 cents.

Well, we all spend money different ways for our hobbies and toys.
Race cars, RC Airplanes & Helicopters, Real Airplanes, Para-gliders,
Bass Boats, Speed Boats, the list of toys and hobbies goes on and on.

Down here, we have mud races, monster truck races, mud boggs, air-boat
races and four-wheeler mud races. And lets don't forget the Cajun Cookouts
that gets thrown EVERYWEEK somewhere. It's just what people do.

If he only spends $11,000 on his toy to play in the mud. He is WAY ahead of the game. That is very cheap what some spend on toys.
We have all seen $100,000-450,000 motor homes for travel and camping, $70,000 bass boats, $65,000 trucks to pull the boats.
RC Airplances and Helicopters, (done that too, spent thousands of $$$, I done the helicopter thingy) .... etc .... etc .....

It's all a where you live, and the things of life that makes you happy.
Yes, I can see where many have a tuff time spending money to play in the
mud. But you should see the happiness in their eyes when they are doing
it ....... That sight would blow you away.

Sure looks like fun, but is it only the young uns that get to have fun in the mud?

Look at this pic doc (start in the crowd, right side of picture). For most pictured, they're wearing riding attire or they have a cup in your hand. Notice most everyone "of age" has a cup in their hand.

I'm going to assume it's a "drink OR drive" event. Not a back-yard "hold my beer and watch this" type of situation.
