Paint Peeling Off

I purchsed one of the first RTV1140's when they came out. I had an RTV 900' for several years prior to this. The paint on the tailgate is peeling off. Dealer said its from vibrations. My neighbor who I talked into tranding in his Polaris Ranger is having ths same problem. After going over both of our vehicles we noticed that paint was comming off under the front fender wells and under RTV as well. This never happened on the old RTV900. The metal is starting to show signs of rust on the bare metal. I would advise everyone to clean the front fender well thoroughly and the undecarriage as well and inspect for rust. The other post on rust in front fender got me nervous and made me look. I would also advise that you don't use a pressure washer on these units.
 
We see the same thing here. The RTV is supposed to be powder coated (the metal parts). I think it's a poor job of powder coating. We have some units where it peels off in large chunks. We end up painting over it, but that's only a temporary fix. Keep hammering the dealer, good luck.
 
yes someone messed up in the coating process.i would contact bota and make them make it right.if not your only fix will be to sand primer and paintjust make sure you wipe it down with acetone after sanding and do the same after primer and painting that should remove any dust that gets in there .the main reason for paint pealing is poor prep work.
 
Haven't had paint peeling off on my 100, but the decals are dropping like flys. I guess I'm better off loosing the decals and keeping the paint. Mine is the camo version, so maybe that is the difference.
 
lost the decals on my rhino the first time i pressure washed it.i figured i knew what utv it was so it didn't matter so i washed all the others off too.lol
 
at first i was upset that they came off infact they came off the second day i had it .i looked up the price for new ones and man i think they was over 100.00 for just some silly old decals so i just left them off.besides that they would have just flew off the next time i hit it with the pressure washer.decals are so over rated anyways lmao... i did have to laugh one time when i got that ticket for riding on a headlane in the cane field .it was covered with 4"of mud ad the cop asked me what it was.lmao
