Relief Knob

TWO GUNS

Does any of the newer RTV's, any model, have the relief pressure knob for the transmission like some of the older machines ?

I am not familiar with the older machines so tell me what to look for and I will take a look on the RTV X1100, I also have the shop manual and can look there as well.

As an update on the RTV X1100, I have spent the last couple of days putting lights front and rear on the cab, Kubota did a great job of pre-wiring for the lights. Wire was run to the front and rear of the roof and switch wiring also present as well. The switch panel on the ceiling that had only the windshield wiper switch now has 4 more switches, 2 for front lights -2 round PIAA LED's and a 12" LED bar light in the center, 2 switches for the rear - 2 LED spots - reverse driving lights and a center mounted work LED flood light. Snowplow and hydraulics from UTV hitchworks are still on the way on a very slow truck from Ohio.

Regards,
Richard

TwoGuns, there is not a pressure release knob on my 2011 RTV 900 XT and for the most part, I've never wanted or needed one.

God Bless!

Golly Jamie....my 05 doesn't have one either. That machine you have must be what in the car or MC world is a collector...a rare breed....one you hold onto because of features that are limited to a small series of machines.............Must be nice........God bless........Dennis

PLEASE excuse the dust !!!!
There is not that much dust in Louisiana.....
That dirt come from running down the dusty roads in Mississippi at hunting property....
Been so busy, have not had time to even rinse it off. But it's fixing to get a bath very soon !!!!

NOW,
HERE IS A PICTURE OF THE "KNOB" !!!!

Two Guns, mine 2011 xt doesn't have the knob. The new design transmission helped in not needing one. I said helped, because it is still or was still ,not perfect. and will aggravate from time to time. There is a cut out place in the dash for one though.. right there like in your picture where that one is... collie

edit: Two Guns, that is a clean looking RTV next to mine. My looks like a flocked Christmas tree with all the cow feed blowing on it... :)

the new ones have a knob, sort of,,it is built in so when you press the brake pedal,,,it is automatically pressed for you,,, by the linkage,,,,

Razerface is correct. There is linkage that runs from the brake pedal back to the hydraulics. When the pedal is depressed to its maximum travel the relief valve will open. One can watch it happen from the rear of the vehicle while another person depresses the brake pedal.

The 04 model (which I have) had no relief mechanism. The dash knob came a little later (05/06) and then they switched to the brake pedal activation. I,ve gotten around the difficulty shifting on mine (because it has no relief) by adjusting the linkage to the HST for some negative bias (creep).....better than nothing. Works pretty good for snow plowing when you drive into a pile of snow as it cause the the RTV to attempt to reverse (slightly) once you come to a stop. Shifting into reverse just requires a bit of go pedal to allow transition to backing up.....(most of the time). I'm sure the new ones are far more kind to the operator....but I like the smell of that musty old money in my wallet and mattress too much to give it to the dealer for a new one.

My '14 1100 rtvx does not have one and I have wished on a couple times that it did. I actually shut it off to get it to shift a couple of times.

If I am reading correctly it does have one but is activated by the brake pedal? I guess I need to try that. Not sure if I had it pressed or not when I had the issue.

yes,, press brake to stop machine,,do not let off,,pull shifter to reverse,,you will feel the transmission relax and it will slip into gear.

My wife told me that the only knob in the 2010 RTV 1100 is the one holding the steering wheel. The stinker!

I resemble that...

So, what years had that knob? It was a few and I'm thinking 07'-09'. Does that sound about right?

This is good Zoom another one of those learning experiences, I'm really interested in the progress of these RTV's over time and only the earliest to the latest owners can help us with that.
