Removing spark arrestor

I am considering removing my spark arrestor on my 2008 RTV900. Mine has the built in screen type. Where is the best location to cut/remove the spark arrestor at. It seems to be very clogged and sooty each time that I have checked it. I have read where others have removed them, but no indication as to where to cut it at. Thanks for any assistance.

On my 2006 RTV900 the spark arrestor was held in with a small screw. After taking out the screw the whole spark arrestor came out with needle nose pliers.

I forget what year; but maybe 07? Kubota changed the design so one could not just pull a screw and remove the baffle.........NOW one has to do some real modifications; but what is that?????.............thanks.......Dennis

Yes they are all a little different from model to model and year to year and probably for each country. USA/Canad rules and regs. Bottom line, if in doubt, remove.

What a difference it made taking the arrester off. Started quicker and runs faster.

Thanks guys for the info.

Even my wife noticed the difference. I am now very pleased with getting it off. Top end is double what it was.

I have an 06 rtv900 and have cleaned mine twice. I leave it in as I run it in the barn and haul hay and don't want to risk a fire. The screw is easy to remove and clean it.
