RTV 900 FULL SKID PLATE

i can get a 4x8 sheet of aluminum for 259.00 and thats the good stuff marine grade. thats 3/16 i can get the 1/4 for under 300.00 for a 4x8 sheet. it pays to live in welding alley i have a shipyard or fabrication yard within 20 miles of me and i have to many to list metal dealers that sales metal. all within a 15/20 mile range or less.

Marine grade aluminum is called 5086 no copper it is good for salt water it is softer than 6061 T-6 which is aircraft grade aluminum and 6061 is much more rigid and stiff. 5086 would more likely to gouge than the 6061.

we use it to make our mud boats out of and our air boats out of it . we also make our offshore crewboats out of it and they get banged up against the platforms it can take a beating and holds up to it. to get aircraft aluminum it would have to be a special order because we don't make no planes down here only boats /rigs/and everything else.i could check into a price but the marine grade is the best bet to go with.besides anything that will gouge an aluminumplate will certainly cut right through plastic.

Don't know 'bout the mud up in Canada, but down here in Louisiana, you don't wash out this gumbo mud, you dig it out, and most digging is by hand. That gumbo is your worst nightmare .... It's like some sort of molding clay, I cannot imagine having something completely covered up. You would have to disassemble the RTV just to get the gumbo out. Now if I ride in Mississippi, that mud over there in places are different, you can wash out some of it, but not down here !!!!

Hi Friends, Those of you whom are interested in a heavy plastic..... I have apossible source for ya'll. This is a really tough slickplastic that we relined our feed wagons with. Check outwww.FarmTek.comThis is refered to as"black polymax HMWPE. This is also used in dump trucks. They also have it in white and it runs different prices. The thickness runs from 1/8" to 1/2". Check this out though if you are considering plastic. It is great in our feed wagonsbut is attached to a solid steel background where we have it in our wagons. The 1/8" thickwould probably be wavy without support but it is tough. You can cut it allwith a skil saw. Good luck in your decisions. Bordercollie[&]

Well, I was getting ready to make an order for some of that "black polymax HMWPE". I'm looking for something to make a bed liner.

I didn't find it in black so was going through pricing and such with the white.

This line killed the deal... "Minimum Order is 1,500 pounds."

Hi BCZOOM, You can order by the running foot.Min order is 10 feet . I see what you were looking at though. the custom liners rolls are sold that way. Instead look at Stk# 106848 (1/8 x 96")and it is $12.85 per liner ft. When ordering you are suppose to add an "R" to the stock number. If the their computer won't find it , I will fax you a copy of this catalog page . Let me know if I can help. This stuff is tuff just don't walk on it without some padding on. Bordercollie[&]

I forgot to mention I see they also have the polymax sheets in 4x8 sheets as well .A stock number for example is 106843 for 1/4x48x96".for $60.95. Before I ordered I would talk to a sales rep there to make sure this item is the same as the other. [:)] Bordercollie[&]

Tommy, I don't really need a skid plate but I could use a "screen" that's a full under body stick stopper to keep the sticks out of where they're not supposed to be.... like the engine compartment, radiator, frame, driveline, etc, etc.

A mud stopper would be nice, too LOL. Like a Star Trek force field...

well your not reaaly all that correct they use aircraft aluminum on m16 and ar15 upper's and lower recievers becease it's light tough . now here comes the part where yourwrong they use it because it's the easiest aluminum to mill down i can take a pices of my marine grade floor plate alunimum and scratch it but i can go up to my ar15 and use the same amount of pressure and i will gouge a rut into the reciever if i do that same thing.thats why i put a piece of black eletrical tape on the shell deflector of my ar15 because just the bullet caseing hitting it after a while started to leave little indentions on it. marine grade aluminumis made to take an impact it's not just made for salt water it's made for water and impact too. aircraft aluminum has to be light. i cut through diferent types of it and i'll tell you you'll know when you are cutting through marine aluminum .
