RTV WISH LIST

OK! here's the thread to post any improvements to the RTV that we as users would like to see in the next generation RTV from Kubota. If the interest is sufficient this thread could become long, so if we could limit postings to suggested improvements that would assist in tabulating the suggestions..Anyone who has already posted in another thread on this matter..PLEASE REPOST HERE.

Thanks and lets see if we can assist KUBOTA in building the perfect RTV.

1...Add a reverse hydro pedal to facilitate forward reverse manuvering of the RTV.

2...Add an interlock to prevent the down function of the hydraulic dump from operating if the dump is already down, thus preventing over-heating of the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir and melting a hole in the tank.

3 a fuel cap a normal effort will remove.

4 backup lights that are visible through the rear guard

Instant quick and easy from 2WD to 4WD or back the other way......Not having to go into reverse, turn the wheel, make sure it is idling properly is a bit much......Dennis

Better KeyPlacement * Factory Installed High Rise Intake System * Cab Light * Real Gauges * Carry Trays Under hood from Factory * Better Fuel Filter Placement *

It would not hurt Kubota to throw in a few extras, for I know many owners like I, would not paying a little extra for the extra things that we ALL need.

Something like a damn top on the machines ....>>> Close up them damn dust-drawing holes that just letdust and dirt just suck inside the cab ...

There are other things I will add atlater date >>

reverse pedal great idea when rtv under load can be a bear to shift
from foward to reverse. On the 1100 roll down windows and make it so the doors close! The cabs so tight the doors will not closewithout really slaming them.Install coast valve on all models sothey can be driven by anyone.Install a better radio in the 1100 for the money it's not much.

Decrease the height of the ROPs slightly to allow entry of standard garage door opening. A lot of doors do not lift to to the point that the entire opening is available for passage (the bottom of the door extends down into the opening even when fully elevated) A contest between the door and the ROPs (roof) of the RTV will always be won by the RTV. Lowering the seat height by the same amount would offset any headroom clearance if it is an issue.

For those units sold north of the Mason-Dixon line, an OEM block and tranny heater would be nice.

Change from the 1" to 2" receivers for towing.

Some sort of spray in liner instead of the rubber mat on the floor. That rubber mat just seems to collect water and rocks.

Middle seatbelt (if they don't already have it).

I can pass this on to Kubota once we have it where we like it.

Better seat design with more weatherproof construction...and softer.............................. Mirrors as standard equipment........................................................................... Oil stick in easy access position............... Bordercollie

For the RTV 500

There were a couple things I found that could use improving IMHO.

The emergency brake handle is on the right side of the driver, in a
little knocked-out area of the plastic below the center seat. It's not
a "bad" location per se but what I didn't like is that it protrudes out
into the floor area. I often slide over to the passenger side to get
in/out of the RTV. I found myself snagging on the brake handle.

On the dash, there's 4 idiot lights. The 2 on the right never came
on but the 2 on the left did. What I didn't like is they have a
generic caution indicator. It doesn't say which system is in the
caution state. E.g. the one on the left is the emergency brake. Why
not have the light show "Brake" instead of a caution symbol. The 2nd
from left came on when starting. I'm guessing it's oil pressure but
again, it's not labeled.

BCZoom, this is a kind offer on your part. I am happy to have you take on this task. Do you have any idea about to whom in Kubota a letter of recommendations should be sent?

Also, to avoid simply sending a very long 'grab-bag' list, I wonder if it would not be more productive (and useful to Kubota) for forum members to limit our suggestions to not more than three and to list them in order of priority. This would allow Kubota (and us) to see where the most significant concerns are concentrated. Otherwise we risk simply sending a long list of miscellaneous grievances/suggestions.

For the record, my only personally experienced frustration has been inadvertantly turning off the ignition with my knee when I am working in the winter (with heavy clothing). But from the discussion, I can sure see the value of a forward/reverse lever distinct from the gear ranges (as, e.g., is the situation with my Case 580C backhoe). So my #1 recommendation would be having a forward/reverse pedal or lever. My #2 is real guages with real numbers, including one for the charging system. My #3 is to move the ignition key to a location where it cannot be easily knocked by the knees of guys with long legs.

The response so far has been great. Lets give the thread a while to collect ideas before proceeding to the next step. I suspect there may be occasional viewers out there who don,t check the input on a daily basis. Perhaps we could group final submission into 3 catagories of recommendation. something like....

Cabin layout and function.... switch location and comfort

Functional operability........... reversing pedal or whatever (example only)

Maintainability........................U-joint greasing dipstick location (example only)..a good place for the "mechanics" to help out.

As Onfoot implies, If PRODUCT DEVELOPEMENT and CUSTOMER RELATIONS and MARKETING (not sales) don't know about us, then it may be an exercise in futility.

I know for a fact that manufacturers who are interested in customer loyalty and satisfaction do listen to serious user group input.

An educational toy manufacturer went so far as to solicit input on proposed product addition/modification. from a user group dedicated to their product.

And thank you BCzoom for volunteering.

man with all these modifications you guys are wanting if you put all them together into one utv it would be called a hpx gator.lmao. i juss had to throw some humor in here it would be nice if bota would listen and change things and you never know they just might .given the econemy the way it is you would think they would wanna satisfy the customer to make them buy more.

RTV Forum:

The"list" for improving the RTV Series UTV and freely sharingof helpful informationis a great idea.

Now aboutour list. Several thoughts come to mind regarding our approach. (And I realize the Kubota Company may be monitoring this site as well.) I think we need to be mindful of theculture and backgroundofKubota.

Myfirst impulse was to prepare a laundry list of all the things that could be improved or changed. Maybe prioritize the items from the most serious ofissues tothe things we would "like" to see changed.Second impulse was, as others have suggested, to limit the laundry listto just the most serious. Then I thought, maybe we could prepare a list of the most easily fixed problems. However, after someconsideration and a couple of brewskees, I'm thinking.......maybe none of myapproaches would bequite the right way to get things changed. Manufacturing is a tediousand time consuming process. In other words. it''s expensive to change anything once it's out on the factory floor.

Food for though:

Wedraft a letter to someone (?) at Kubota HQ (?) and make them aware of our Forum, who we areand, our concerns as a multi-national group of RTV users and owners. The letter states that we would like to open a dialogue with their people (management?) to express ideas on how we 1.) use their products, 2.) feedback about their dealer services, 3.) what we like about their products, 4.) the difficulties we are experiencing with their products and, 5.)how we would suggest improving their products.

The downturn of the ecomomy is affecting companies worldwide.Kubota mightwelcome suggestions from end-users on how to improve their bottom line.

Thoughts?
