RTV900W Manufacture Date

Now that the dust has settled on buying my new RTV, I was just looking over my Certificate Of Origin For A Vehicle that came with my new RTV900w purchased and delivered last month and, it is dated 5/22/07.

How can you tell exactly what the date of manufacture is on the RTV900w? Can the vehicle ID number be decoded to give this information or di I need to look elsewhere? I'm now wondering if maybe the dealer didn't make a mistake and sold me a year old unit.

Any help of comments would be appreciated. Thanks. Clay

7 months before 08 sounds like a long time . you might wanna check into itmost companyies will release their units within 6 months or less most likey lessthan 6 months. i did have a john deere sales man try to sell me a 06 hpx and tell me it was a 07 the reason i know it wasn't a 07 was i checked around on the websights and everyone who had a hpx or knew about john deere was waiting for them to be releasedand the 07's was released i think 4 months later . the problem is with these things if they don't do any changes to them from year to year then it's very easy for them to pass it of as a newer model.does your's have any new features the 07 doesn't? does anyone know what upgrades was done to the 08's versus the 07's?

I'm afraid i'm in the dark about any changes that may have been made between the '07 and the '08. Maybe there's not any. In which case I don't think I have much of a concern. But, if there are any changes then i need to know about them so that I can address this issue with the dealer that sold it to me. I'm still hoping that someone maybe able to translate the VIN number to the date of manufacture.

Thanks again, Clay

i would call another dealer and tell them you are lookin to buy a rtv used and with very alot hours and was wondering if you gave them the vin number could they possibly tell you what year it was and any info on it. just call them and act dumb. don't give them your name and put the number block on your phone so they can't see it's you calling if not they will know as soon as they pop them numbers into the computer that it was sold to so/so. just tell them your buying it from "and give them your name" and was just wondering because he said it was an 08 but it has to many hours to be new .

If remember correctly, that your VIN # on your unit will go something like the ninthspot in your VIN NUMBER.

It will go something like : KRTV900AX0000000

Where the " X " is, should be the year >>>>>

There is no difference in the '07 & '08's ~~~~~~

Thanks for jumping in here... The ninth number in my VIN is a seven. So that would make it a 2007. I hope you are correct about there not being any changes made between the '07 & '08 models. I can live with the unit being a new unit made in 2007 unless there were updated changes made.

On your other post, you made some good suggestions. But, i really don't have to play dumb - that come naturally. Clay

The only change that they made was the spark arrestor, the newer models have the spark arrestor in the muffler like the 1100 series units. The older spark arrestors was just a cap on the end of the tailpipe.

About the only other change I know ofbefore that, and that was a year or so before I purchased mine was the pressure relief valve in the dash....

You have nothing to worry about your new machine, you have the latest technologly there is on the Kubota RTV's. You can now put your mind at ease ~~~~~~~

yes wo guns but did the price go up on the 07/08's he might have gotten chargedand payed the price for a 08 and got a 07 when in reality he could have gotten a better deal if they sold it to him as a 07 the quality is there yes but price is an issue too. plus what about warranty will they try to dick him around and say it's older than it is if something does happen and if he produces his paper work all they gotta do is say or were sorry it must have been a typo. or if he goes to resale it what year does he say if he say it's an 08 and the buyer checks it out and it turns up to be a 07 it makes him lookmlike a liar.

Price usally goes up with newinventory. *** Resale, much equipment like that isre-soldusally don't go by the year date, many goes by the hours of use.

They can always refer back to the " date of sale " paperwork !!!!

I would imagine that he gave the so called price of the '07 model, for likeseveral local dealers, I know they had to go up $210.00afew weeks ago for the new inventory of Kobota's he received in that shipment.

Warranty on Kubota goes by the date of sale

Personally, don't believe he's going to have any problems at all......

Thanks guys for the thoughts and insights. I do have a dated Bill of Sale from my dealer that Kubota can base their warrantee on. My unit does NOT have a cap spark arrestor on the muffler tail pipe so I must assume that it's attached to the tail pipe inside the muffler. I hav'nt had a chance to take off the tail pipe yet to check it out but, as soon as I get back to the ranch that job is at the top of my list of things to do. Also, it does have a Pressure Relief Valve in the dash which I have had to use. So, I guess according to all the help from this forum I must have the newest type RTV900 available...I hope. Thanks again, Clay

I thought I would add that I found a 'date of assembly' on the hood hinge while it was open. Mine was on the passenger side on the top of the hinge right below the orange plastic. This paper label was dated 12/09/04. Thought thismight beinteresting since it is hard to see. Bordercollie

Bordercollie,

Know what is going on first thing in the morning at first light. Going out to the shop and lift my hood, and take a look and see if mine has one of them decals. Thanks for the note .....

that would make yours a 95 right?? or were you told it was a 96??

bordercollie, I'm glad you jumped in with this info. I'll check to see if mine has the label under the hood next month when I get back to my home. I did check w/ Kubota Customer Satisfaction Dept in Calif yesterday and they told me that they could not tell me the exact date the unit was made when given my serial number but, could tell me it was made sometime after 5/1/07. Also, informed me that the new 2008 models are just now coming out onto the market. So it appears that I do have a 2007 model. They also informed me that there have been no new features added to 900 since the redesigned gas tank was made in 2006. Clay

i think it's *71 or something like that it was in the front of my phone book one time . all you do is press that number before you dial the phone number and it will read private or unregisterd caller on their id calling device.
