Still love my 08 RTV 1100

The old girl keeps on going. Got in to the firewood heavy this year and the RTV has NOT let me down a bit. I am very happy with the add ons and have built a rough rack in to the wooden sides. That has enabled me to have everything I need out in the woodlot. I have a breaker bar, all kinds of axes and mauls and a sledge hammer along with a nice size tool kit. I have a vise on my trailer hitch to hold my saws when I sharpen them in the field. Got rid of a Cub Cadet side by side and replaced it with the 1100 and it was not even close. I really would not have gone out of my way to get air conditioning in the rig, but really happy I have it after cutting wood all morning. This hot summer has made me a believer!.

Yea nice rtv as for as the saw if it starts and it cuts its a good saw.me i have me two craftsman saws they been cutting for years and are still going.if i had more money would i buy a better name brand saw? Probably not i keep my stuff clean and working now if i was a guy who ran the hell out of them maybe i would get something diferent but all i use mine for is firewood and huricane ckeanup .on a good year i might cut maybe 15 to20 truckloads of wood a year i know thats not much being you guys up north probabl tripple that real easy.

Yep any saw that runs is a good saw...just gotta give those Husky guys a poke every now and again....that being said I've got a Husky sitting in a case right beside my Stihl...Just joking around....the Husqvarna is a work horse, I bought a small Stihl 250 a couple years ago with the tool less adjustment and quick start for doing some trimming around fencelines...if there were more Husq. dealers around me I would have likely bought another from them when I got my small saw but the dealer support was better with Stihl right here so I went that way. They all cut pretty much the same.

Nice set up. I sold my 028 stihl saw that I had for years.(worked great, i just got tired of it making a mess in the case every time. The bar oil always leaked out into the case) I was going to buy a new stihl, but I saw the husky's and decided to try one. Good saw, can't say it's better than a stihl but it is a fine saw.

About your trailer-hitch/vise mount: nice piece of gear there. Did you fabricate that yourself (or have it fabricated), or is that a commercially-available product?

Heatwave, I did not fab the vise mount. I got it at Harbor Freight, both the mount and the plate to mount the vise. It works great.

Regarding the Stihl vs. Husky, my friend I am not touching that one with a 10 foot pole. It is like talking about religion or politics, never any winner. The reason I went Husky is that when I was a Trooper in Vermont, all the loggers used them. I took more stolen saw reports regarding Huskys. I will stay away from this since it is an RTV forum (sorry Doc).

Xtrooper, you have certainly taken very good care of the ole girl. She looks like a new one! I do like the vise mount. That would be very helpful sharpening the chain while sitting on a five gallon bucket.

Funny how we got hung up on that Husqvarna you have in your hand. For what it's worth, I use a Husqvarna also. Had a 136 and a 359 stolen last year and replaced them with a 353e. I'm fortunate to have a superb Husqvarna dealer near me.

Nice setup Trooper!

There's no problem talking about saws whatsoever.

Myself, both of my saws are Husky. A 365 for the big stuff, a 338XP for the little. I also have Stihl equipment. I'm not one to stick to a specific brand and have in the stable Kubota/Deere, Suzuki/Honda, Husqvarna/Stihl, Onan/Generac, GMC/Ford, Kohler/Briggs...
