Too, too early for drought

Whoooo, it's dry, hot, and too early for both. We've experienced no recordable precipitation in May. Grass is brown and very little hay has been produced. Any prayers, rain dances or other magic (Ha, Ha!) would be appreciated. I certainly am not interested in selling my good herd of purebred cattle for stockyard prices.

We have a sizeable prediction to receive rain tonight and tomorrow; however, the predicters missed the previous day's predictions.

I'd be interested in knowing the status from the forum family members.

thinga are just starting to get to the drought condition. the ditches are slowly drying up and the canals bearly have water in them. it's a good thing though because if we was to get a storm it would help out on soaking up some of that rain water.

Plenty dry @ my place, even tho it's been raining on most of Florida. 70% chance of rain yesterday afternoon late, and I didn't even see a rain cloud. And I was in the process of baling when it was supposed to rain.

We got a thunderstorm today - late. It was starting to get dry. More predicted for tomorrow. It's been real hot in the nineties but will drop 10 degrees plus with these storms it got almost "cold" this evening down to 69 so far . Pepr, it looks like a band of rain coming N of Texarkana now. I hope you get just rain and nothing bad. bordercollie

Here in NW Georgia we went most of April and early May with mostly nothing. Got to thinking that the drought we have been going through for perhaps 8 years now was back on after decent rains through the winter.........Now though after this tropical storm and cold fronts going through brings us to almost "normal" conditions......Only God knows ..........Dennis

We could sure use some rain around here. Looks like the next 2 days should bring some our way. We have had some quick showers but the dust was flying while baling hay this past weekend. Creeks and rivers are low on flow right now.

Like Muley, we've had some short showers lately (after a week or 2 of no rain). Thankfully, the temps have dropped from the high 80's down to something more reasonable. Highs in the upper 60's to low 70's and the lows down in the 40's.

NOT to be critical; but where do you guys live???????.........lol.....have to go into your personal stuff to find out and then some of you have NOTHING there........Or is this ol brain all withered up like my pasture was last year from no rain???.....God bless.....Dennis

We could use some more rain. Last Tuesday it poured. A very hard destructive type of downpour, like I normally only see on the coasts. Most things are green though, and the grass, weeds & multiflora are all growing like crazy.

I'm in W. PA. Muleman is on the NY/PA border.

As a contrast: we went to the Indy 500 last week ... outta North Mississippi across Tennessee to Nashville, then up I65 through Bowling Green and Louisville, KY, and up the heart of Indiana to Indianapolis. Farms lands appeared lush. Mature wheat crops awaiting harvest as far as the eye can see ... fresh wheat crops looking verdant, healthy, and fast-growing ... first hay cuttings completed, bales lying all about awaiting storage ... corn crops arising quickly ... bluegrass pastures all doing well ... and so on. Nature gives ... Nature takes away.

Thanks to all for weighing in on this subject. The forecasters got our hopes up with four days of elevated rain chances, up to 80%. We got the other 20% here in west central Arkansas. Not a drop here at Rehm Angus. I keep telling myself that in the very near future, this drought will be just a bad memory. I must pray and have faith. Times like these challenge my ability to defeat stress, then I remind myself of all the wonderful things the Lord has presented to me. Faith, Faith, Faith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We sure are getting some rain now. Lots of wind driving it as well. There is a nasty line of storms moving up Md all the way to middle of NY.

Well, we got an inch between drops on Friday (6/1) and 0.1" of rain very early this morning (6/3). I'm very GREATFUL for every drop we get. I checked by farm ledger noting that the previous rainfall was April 15, 2012.

I'm having faith and praying that we ALL get needed rainfall.

God Bless each of you!!!!!

We've had a lot of rain up in Maine lately.....the ground is saturated now. There are road closures from flooding, you guys can have the rest of our rain for awhile :blob_blue:

Tomorrow I get to reset 4 bridges and replace 140' of fence because of all the rain we've had flooding brooks.....man I wish you guys had taken some of ours.:wall:

A lot of small creeks around here are dry. What rain we got soaked in real quick. Sure did give the hay a nice growth spurt. Some guys are cutting today as we are to be warm all weekend.
