OK........this time I didnt hit the icon for inserting an image, the mountain and moon, but went down to attach file and uploaded it there. There was not a list of previous uploaded pics though. Don't mind this cause it saves YOU guys some room on your server...........Anyway, lets see if it shows up.

In the previous post, I did the copy paste thing outlined above when I hit the insert image icon, AND had the file down in the attach files box below........

Dennis,

You used both processes for inserting a picture (thus it displayed twice).

To upload a picture from your computer, use the "Manage Attachment" below the text entry box, browse to the pic(s) on your computer and then upload. That will physically put the picture on this site.

The mountain/moon is used to insert an image from a URL. This is where the picture/image resides outside of this forum. The problem with this approach is for it to display here, whatever is hosting your picture needs to allow it to be displayed. This appears to be part of the problem of images not displaying here. They're on CTR which appears to have some limits on allowing the view. I'm signed on at CTR in another browser window so I can see them. If you're not signed on, it may be hit or miss.

You've got it now!!!

OK, for this situation:
In the toolbar that's at the top of each page, click on the "User CP" option. Once in your User Control Panel, the last option in the tools on the left side (Under "Miscellaneous") is "Attachments". Here, it'll provide a list of every picture you've uploaded, what thread it's in and when it was uploaded.
From here, you can click on your picture and when it opens, you'll have a URL for it. This is a perfect use for inserting an image via URL (The mountain/moon). The pic is already on the site so you just need to link to it to show it again. Actually, many sites don't allow duplicate pictures and require you to use this option.

No Onfoot picture seen . I see KK's fine . I get the firewall alert when I try the CTR link even though I am logged in, I use Firefox,Symantic . Bordercollie

Just a silly question here - since it seems this behavior started recently, is it possible that a recent Microsoft patch has broken something in IE8? Certainly wouldn't be the first time, nor probably the last! I have had some pretty sever problems before after a Microsoft update, only to have the problem go away a few days later when MS realsed a fix for their fix.

As a test, maybe someone with IE8 could perhaps use System Restore back to a time when the pictures were working, and see if they "magically" reappear?

Just another thought. I use a program called Glary utilities and have it clean everything except my firefox website passwords after almost all internet sessions. I do not run any firewalls or anti virus at all. There is nothing worth anything to anyone on my computer. No history of anywhere I have been or sites I have used. I can view every pic that has been posted on either site even the ones Brian linked to. It displays as if it is sitting on this site.

Good thought but this time I cannot in good conscience blame Mircrosoft. One member running IE8 cannot view pics here on Net Tractor Talk but he can view them over on Forums Forums.
This problem is related to the fix I did for the jpg images being set to big. In doing that I discovered a flaw in VB and we are working to get that fixed as soon as possible.
Will keep you all posted as I find out more.

Thanks Keifer. Good to know. it's not your problem it's mine. Working on getting it fixed.

Welcome To Net Tractor Talk!!!!! :thumb: :tiphat:

Doc, that VB flaw impacted my Firefox (latest, 3.5.7). I suddenly lost the ability to view my pix in Attachments, while I can still see my Attachments pix over on FF.

I get the 'download to temp folder/can't view' error that I described in this post.

But IE7 and Opera weren't broken by that VB change. They properly open a new window and display the picture.
