Has anyone had their steering control unit start leaking hydraulic fluid from around the shaft where steering wheel mounts? I was wondering if anyone has able to replace the seal vs buying a new unit for $730.
The problem would be finding the right parts. You might take it to someone the rebuilds cylinders.
If the parts catalogue doesn't show it, Kubota doesn't sell it. It is possible that someone else makes it. You might have to take it out to see if there are manufacturer stampings or marks on it that could lead you to a rebuild kit. Did you check the fittings and hoses to make sure they aren't leaking?
A little update... Used my Google Fu and found out the unit is a Danfoss controller similar to what's used in boats for hydraulic steering. I found a local hydraulic repair shop and he told me to bring it in and he'll replace the seal. Now the task of ripping it out begins.
I just saved a copy of that post in my RTV Owner’s Manual and WSM in the event of future need. THANKS!Success! Midwest steering out of Independence MO. sells an original re seal kit from Sauer Danfoss. Here is the info in case anyone else runs into this problem. Original Sauer Danfoss OSPM Steering Valve Seal Kit 150L4054, SK143. They have a site on ebay, or you can contact them directly at (800) 237-5048. Cost was $102 with tax and shipping. Lots cheaper than buying a new unit from Kubota at $800+
