The other point, if by some poor luck you get a hole in the high rise pipe, if the filter is up high you will suck dirt. If QUOTE]
Now, My 2 cents worth.
If you get a hole in your high rise system, SOMEBODY SHOT THE DAMN THING.
The high riser system is the only way to go.
I can speak on this subject, for in just a matter of hours after purchasing my RTV. My air box was clogged up with dust, dirt, debis. Went to my dealer to find out the effect of a " snorkle type" system on the diesel engine. That is when I found out about the high riser. The purchase was made, and didn't care about the cost. Figured if I could afford a RTV, we could spend another 160.00 $$$ on high riser filter system.
Raised around heavy equipement, like many others, I check my oil, air, etc,. etc , >>>> With that being said, I check my oil and air box constantly, and can say with authority, that my ORIGINAL FILTERS, ( inner & outer) that came with my high rise system, is just as clean today as it was the day I took it out and installed it. And many here know and the ones who actually see me run my machine doing the deer managment & hunting, that I do see my fair share of dirt / mud / water !!!! And to top it off, it will make your RTV run stronger, for I know that for a fact !!!!
Why Kubota don't install the high riser from the factory, we don't know. BUT, we do know that the original factory location of the air box, lives in a vortex of dirt / dust. Take the test.
Go down a dusty road, stick your head out and around, look toward the back tire., you can see then, why one needs the high riser.
Bottom line is: Fabricate or purchase yourself a high rise system !!!! It will save your RTV and your pocket book !!!!!
P.S.
And I don't know anything about a RZR
