I purchased a 2007 RTV900, this week, with 350 hours on the meter. I am shopping for a service manual. Any ideas? Ebay has CD manuels for about 10 bucks and the Kubota hard copy service manual is over $100.
i don't have a 900, but i did buy a manual for my 1100. I can tell you, so far,,i am NOT satisfied with the Kubota manual.
I needed the electrical schematics first. It turns out that Kubota does not include a total schematic for the vehicle! They have "mini schematics".
For instance, if the rtv did not charge, you would go to the "charging system" schematic. If it was the light that have the problem, you go to the "lights" schematic. In these schematics,, they do not even identify which fuses the circuit uses,,,just have the amp value in the schematic.
THEN,,,if you want to know where some certain wire is, or where it goes,,,,,as i did,,,you have no idea where to look for it. The FIRST wire I tried to locate is sticking out by the fusebox. There is no schematic to chase it down!
There is a "spare" fuse circuit,,,,again, no main schematic to chase it down to see where it goes! I wasn't going to unwrap the harness to find out,,,
I hope the next section I need is better.
I do not like cd's. I like a book to spread open while I work. I also look for stuff in books by pictures,,,on a cd you must know what to search for (proper name),,and it usually does not all fit on the screen when you find it, so you must constantly scroll while you work. If you need 2 different sections,,,you can't use bookmarks to mark your place so you can flip back and forth like a book.

I've done the CD approach in the past and its worked well. I locate the subject material then print off those pages and take them to the garage. I don't care if they get worn, torn or dirty cause in going to toss them out when I'm done.
Fortunately I've got a large, 25" computer monitor that makes it easy to find what I need.
That being said, I need a cd that covers the 1100 now...

Nice of you all to respond. Your information is appreciated. I know that peanut is a skilled craftsman from the photos of his "stick stoppers" and I have ordered a set for my machine, but I must find a south Louisiana translator to decipher his post(-:

Remember Kubota service manuals were written for technicians that had training and the manual is a reference for them. Not really written for the general public, but because of the demand they sell them.
Then publishers copy this manual into their versions so you get the same thing in a Clymer or Hanes version. The better ones are written for the average Joe but most are just some kind of copy of the factory manual.

naw,,, if done for training or reference,,it has to be written somewhere,,or they don't know what to train for, or have classroom material to train with! I am (pretty)sure kubota is ISO like the rest of the big companies in the world, which means all procedures and such must be documented.
If it is not written down, it is done by memory. I doubt all kubota's processes are commited to someones memory for safekeeping and execution.
It is a poorly written manual and does not contain all the info needed to properly service the equipment. I am a book guy. I buy service manuals to everything I purchase. I can attest that the rtv1100 service manual does not measure up to most others I own. You cannot reference something that is not written down.
My neighbor is the local kubota dealer. We compared his shop manuals. They had the same info mine have. He will have to call kubota to see where the wire goes that we want to use since the schematics do not exist. We are waiting on the "trainer" to show up in a week or so to ask them. Their yearly training is coming up.

I have the one from Ebay on a CD and has all the needed info you will need.also if you need any info most will point you in the proper direction and some with color illistraited pics.
Hey Mark, see if your CD shows the "spare" fuse circuit on it. I think it is fuse 9, but I am not near my book or rtv, so that is from memory. The book does not show it (that I have found).
It would be interesting to see if the book is different then the CD, or if the CD has more info. I would think it is the same.

What I was meaning by the manual is a reference, is that the service guys are trained and know where things are located, the general workings of the parts an pieces, have had hands on experience with the vehicle, had courses on electrical components, and technical courses on transmissions and hydraulics.
All things a normal user would never get to see or do.
The manual is their guide to each type of vehicle they work on with the specs for the vehicle. With their vast knowledge, they could probably work on the vehicle without a manual and still get the job done. The good ones that is.
So in that light the factory writes these manuals for the mechanic with all these other basic skills. That's why the shop manuals are not great for the average joe like me.
I've had factory training, by Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, for years and still find most shop manuals lacking. So everyday users trying to read them would only be more confused than I.
Anyway, it is what it is and any shop manual is a lot better than nothing.

Spud, that is exactly my point. Even the lid on the fuse box has the info you posted. It is just a pic of the lid. That info is worthless if you want to use the "spare" circuit since the actual wires are hidden in a wiring harness. That fusebox should be in the main schematic,,showing the path from each fuse. I know this because I am not an electrician! I use schematics BECAUSE I am not an electrician.
Where is the circuit? Should you have to disassemble the interior,,unwrap the wiring harness,,, and follow the wires from that spare fuse looking for wires the same color,, until you find the end of the wire and what it hooks too or where it ends?? No,,, there should be a schematic that shows that wire in the harness,, its beginning to it's end. A basic schematic would show that,,,but kubota chooses to not have a main schematic in the service manual. That is almost laughable.
A full schematic is the MAIN ingredient in any manuals electrical section!
My "spare" fuse,,even though there are wires connected to it,,,does not show 12v,,,key on or off. Why not? Hmmm,,, I know, I'll look on the schematic and see! Nope. No schematic
The word spare must mean it is there to use,,,,,somewhere,,,, I need it! I was hoping my manual was just missing pages somehow and everybody else has the missing schematic! I am going to look at your diagram and see if it is different then my book. I hope you found the missing link!

That is it! Those are not in my manual! What book did you find those in? For what years do you know? I will take this home and compare to my 1100 book(2012) and see if page 8-M1 is missing.
Look what schematics do,,,,in 30 seconds of looking at it,, I see that the 3rd fuse(5amp) from the bottom in the schematic,,,shows the wire just makes a circle from 1 side of the fuse to the other, problem solved. I have been tortured for weeks about that circuit,,,should I sue kubota for heartache or whatever it is everybody sues for? Mental anguish? Is that it?
I am disgusted my book did not include this!

Yea i hear that from anyone a talk to on the puter.i never put the periods where they go that is when i do put a period in there.most timez itz just a long sentence.i never was good in english class infact i slept through most of my classes and if i wasnt sleepin they just simply gave me an ecsuse from class an had me pait pictures for homecoming pictire back drops or painting the dug outs for the softball an baseball teams.juss bear wit me iss all good neg...lol

I ended up purchasing a service manual in cd format off of Ebay. It was sent from Hungary and the cost was $14, including shipping. It appears to be a copy of the 2004 Kubota RTV900 service manual.
Ahhh sorry to hear that. Damn, that really sucks.
