Does your RTV1140 overheat

My name is Josh and I am new to the forum. I have some questions about the RTV1140. Has anyone seen any problems with the engine overheating since the RTV1140 does not have the cooling fan on the engine? I am in Texas and I am afraid that the engine might be more likely to overheat in the summer without the cooling fan. I know that there is a fan on the radiator but I would hate for the engine to overheat. Anyone had any problems?

Josh,
My RTV1100 has the same setup which is that way due to space limitations in the engine compartment.

My old 900 (08) had an engine fan plus the rad and electric fan like ours.

It should be no problem, the electric fan works well and the system is designed to work without the engine fan.

Check the screen and rad fins from time to time to make sure there are no air flow restrcitions and you are good to go.

In fact the bigger engines seem to run cooler than the 900's and I'm not sure if we don't have a more efficient cooling system on the newer models.

Josh,

Welcome to the forum!!!

I have a lowly 900 but agree with the potato driver.

There's been lots of anecdotal history about overheating but if you do a forum search, you'll find that in most cases, it's just a gauge reading and the engine temp is in fact fine.

Josh,

If have an 1140 and this year was one of our hottest summers on record and I never had any problems. As stated by SpudHauler I would recommend that you just make sure you keep it clean.

My 1140 was running right in the middle of the temperature gauge but now that it has turned cool it doesn't even get that high.

I had a Yamaha Rhino that constantly overheated under hot conditions and at idle. A shroud over the radiator worked well. A shroud pulls air over the entire surface of the radiator instead of just directly over the fan. Could be manufactured easily or check aftermarket. Have a COOL one!
