Hi all I am new to this site and I have just purchased a 2007 KUBOTA 900 RTV and when driving it at slow speed it drives ok but as soon as you try to get full speed out of it it seems to die the engine slows down but it does not stall any help please as I have laid a lot of money on this and a bit fed up and ideas would be helpfull as I don't know a lot about these thanks in advance

Hi DinkyDunk, and welcome to our RTV & Tractor Forum :tiphat:

When you are trying to go full speed are you pressing the pedal to the floor? Hydrostat work different than what we are used to. You actually need to let off the pedal and allow the power to build. Hard to explain but easy to get used to once you get the touch.

Hello DinkyDunk. Welcome to the best forum.

I suggest replacing the fuel filter and cleaning or removing the spark arrestor. I'm betting it's the fuel filter.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting your RTV.

Like Doc said, if you floor it on the pedal, it's going to take a few seconds for things to get up to full power. This is normal in M or H range but it should be up to full power pretty quickly.

It sounds like it could be one or more of some common things that starve the RTV's power. They're all pretty easy/cheap/quick fixes.

First, make sure your spark arrestor is removed or at least cleaned.

It probably wouldn't hurt to replace your fuel filter. If you don't have the high-rise air filter (up near the ROPS), inspect and clean/replace the air filter if needed.

If there's no record of it being done within the last 200 hours, consider also changing the tranny fluid and filters. Use OEM oil and filters for this. It doesn't sound like this is your problem right now but it's another thing that robs performance.

Hi Dinkydunk. I agree on the spark arrestor being a culprit often also be sure to check the fluid levels in the transmission . I change my trans fluid and filters every 400 hrs . I would make sure that the hand brake is all the way up and not dragging The button could be worn out under the brake handle and not letting the light , light up.. It has happened to mine before. I have a thread on the forum about replacing my "brake on" warning light- the switch- a good while back. Zoom is right on the air cleaner. It could very well be clogged up and robbing the engine of air. I am many members have changed the location of the air intake as those filters are not cheap. I am still on my original air filter after 800 hrs since I moved locations and made my own intake up high. There are many threads on that here. Just ask and you will get a lot of extra information. :) Good luck, bordercollie

Spark arrester is one culprit but the symptoms tell me fuel filter.Runs fine idles fine until you give it some throttle. It takes off then boggs down. Its a sign of a plugged or very dirty fuel filter and when the engine demands more fuel for speed the fuel is getting choked off and its like you are running out of fuel.Has happened me me on several occasions.Try replacing the filter first and im sure you will notice a major improvment. The spart arrestor could be getting puluuged up also but you generally only notice that at top end instead of doing say 25 mph max would be 22 mph.Keep us informed on what you find but ill bet money its your fuel filter.

Help with drive issues

Thank you all for your help I'll give the fuel filter a try first and see what happens a few of you have mentioned the spark arrester were is this located and what does it look like please as I say very new to this and have never had anything to do with these before I have always had quads thanks again for all your help

The spark arrestor is located in the muffler. There are a couple of cap screws on the end of the muffler to remove and the tail pipe and arrestor slides out.

Here is a link to some pictures of the different spark arrestors on the 900's. The old style had the screw on the end of the tail pipe type and the newer style has a removable tailpipe/arrestor with a screen. How many hours does your machine have on it.? Mark is right . The fuel filter is the cheapest filter of them all too. Taking the side panel off there by it will give you some hand room. bordercollie

First of all welcome aboard. The pedal all the way to the floor issue described above is valid on hills. One backs off a bit from full throttle on hills and you will hear the engine gather a bit of grunt to it.........But to me, you have other issues on the flats.....A search for "spark arrestor" brought this really good thread......

What matters though about this subject is if you have an old style or new type of spark arrestor.......The old brain cant remember what year the new style kicked in but there is a difference.......God bless.......Dennis
