PEANUTS: Stick Stopper Comment and Question

While lying on the ground and admiring the bottomside of my RTV900, I noticed that the inside edges of the front wheel rims have been rubbing against the top edges of my Peanuts Custom Solid Steel Stick Stoppers. Should I bend the stick stoppers just a bit, or is there a wheel-turn limiter beneath there somewhere that isn't doing its job? Or is this just another case of pilot error?

What year is your RTV? The old ones didn't come with turn limiters but they offered a kit you could add.

i did have one set i done that i didn't bend them enough but i corrected that and made sure to bend them enough not to rub. check to see if your rtv has the wheel stops on it if it doesn't send them things back to me and i'll take care of them for ya if you can please email me some pictures of them while they are still on the rtv with the wheel rubbing so i can see how much to bend them. send me a pm and i'll give you my email address.

one other thing if you don't have the steering stops on your rtv i can make you set for free all you have to do is cover the shipping.

My RTV900 is a 2008 model. It's at the shop today. I'll check the steering stoppers when I get it back. I noticed the scraping on the stick stoppers while securing the mule to my trailer yesterday morning. If I can't put a Crescent wrench on the stick stoppers and bend them sufficiently (without defeating their utility), I may try grinding off just a wee bit. After all I went through to mount the stick stoppers, I will never remove them.

I don't think I have a real "problem" here ... just "an occurrence," or "an event." I offered this information merely as a heads up to others who may want to check their wheels. All will be well.

Guess I will have to look at mine. I cross a lot of diagonal breakers on my woods roads and if they were going to hit it would be then. My hearing is so bad I would never hear it.

no don't grind them just take a picture of them where they are rubbing and send them to me if you have the steering stops. i don't want anyone to have to bend cut or do anything to them thats my job to repair them. i did have one pair a few months ago that was rubbing and i had the member ship me the face plates so i could make it right. if it is indeed the face plates problem just let me know when your sending them out so i could keep an eye out fr them. to fix them only takes 5 minutes and then i repaint them and send them out the next day. they make a smaller flatrate box so don't reuse the old box just get another smaller one from the post office to ship them back. i will send the cash for the shipping with them when i return them to you .

Folks, speaking from experience, Peanut will take care yor issues. He took care of my issue (same) just as he stated. Believe me, you will not regret the time to remove the face plate and reinstall them when you see the great job he will do to correct the issue. An AWESOME guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks pepr and i have another idea that will save tome and money when you confirm that it is the faceplates and not the steering stops just let me know and pm me your address and i'll just send you out a new set of face plates and you just keep the old ones. i have a set already cut and bent i'll go ahead and paint them and have them ready to go.

heatwave i would like an update as to how it is going with the stickstoppers? did things workout or they still rubbing? i don't like sedning out something that someone has to modify to work. been waiting for some kinda reply.i have the other face plates ready to go out if needed i just need to hear from you as to what happened was it the stickstoppers or lack of steering stops?

I got this email from heatwave. I will post it here for him and hope he will stop in to give an update on how it is going for him.

Peanut,

I apologize for posting my pix on the forum instead of emailing them to you. It was
not my intention to disparage your stick stoppers. The post has been deleted.

Another $0.02 from Redneck to Coonass...

The only thing my Peanut Stick Stoppers have been doing is defeating sticks left and right... They defeat sticks in the cold, they defeat sticks in the rain, they defeat sticks in 102 degree heat, they defeat sticks when I'm having a beer from a frosty mug and at the river watching a tug...:beer-fresh:

Here's the night time view from the beer garden:

I am very proud to own the very first set of Boot Savers / Stick Stoppers Peanut ever built. They are today just as strong and useful as the very day I installed them.
Thank you Tommy for everything !!!!
