questions

it had the tires on it when i got it and does not seem to have been mud riding at all the guy i got it from had it on a farm.one of the axles in the front the boot on the inside is twisted up a little so i know i have something to address there.i did look at it in the mud and i dont think it was spinning thats what has me concerned but like you said it could be a spline stripped or something.i just got this thing friday and i am just wanting to fix any problems it has.i just dont know the way the 4wheel drive works or if it is just not the power there to always spin the tires.i stuck it on a hill were the backend was bottomed out and the back tires were spinning but the front were not

Don't know if it has been told, but you need to go ahead and put you a new fuel
filter in the machine.

This machine has got the power. If it has the right filters, right fluids, and fuel filter is clean. Power is no problem.

that boot being twisted sounds like you might have a problem. i would guess that if the dif was stripped it wouldn't be twisted but if the spline on the wheel hub was bad that would let the shaft turn and twist the boot . like twoguns said the rtv has the power to turn the tires depending on the ground under them with good solid ground i think it would be kinda hard to turn them but on loose ground it should spin atleast 3 tires.is there anyway you could jackup the rtv with all 4 wheels off the ground and try putting it is 4 wheel drive and see what happens?

We had one in here before that the knuckle inside the boot was gone, so the shaft was just spinning inside the boot similar to what peanut is describing. Ours was the outer joint rather than the inside though. I agree that the twisted boot warrants some looking into. Another thing to look into for the knocking is the mesh of the front driveshaft on the pinion splines. I had posted some pics on another post of the wear these splines get over time. If the frt. driveshaft wobbles due to the wear it will make a knocking sound. The noise will tend to get worse the faster you drive. I believe your lack of 4wd could be as peanut suggested in that c.v. joint. Check out this link to similar issues on an 1100 (knocking sound) http://www.nettractortalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14502 . Good luck.

alright after hunting all day sat on my buggie i am prety sure i have a brocken axle i think it is totaly brocken in the joint is ther a way to replace just the joint or do i have to buy a complete axle i have not torn it down yet but just wondering what kind of money it will cost to replace it.do i have to buy from kubota or can they be gotten somewhere else any info would be helpful i know on other bikes i have had before you could buy things online but not sure about this one

I havnt been into the front end on the machine yet thank god.
Im not sure if its the same as the rear axles or not.
If it is like the rear axle and just a u joint it can probable be replaced if the yokes are ok.
Im not sure if Bota sells them but myself like many others here measured the joint size and replaced it with an aftermarket joint from the auto parts store.
Maybe someone else has more info on the front axel assembleys

if you can't find a slip on cv joint find one that will fit and send it to me i might be able to weld it together for ya. i like to go to tractor supple because they have alot of diferent size cv joint on the shelf.you can bring in your broken one and match it up s close as you can.

Was it a broken axle and did you get it fixed? Since it is for sale now and I am considering taking the plunge, just wondering how you took care of it.

Nevermind. I did see in another thread that you put a new axle on it. Would like to see some pics of it though. Can't find any of those. I got you mixed up with another poster who had posted pics.

i just traded my polaris ranger for a 06 900 rtv, after riding a little this weakend i have a few quest.first, i am not sure if my 4 wheel drive is working properly i got it stuck in a little mud whole and it seemed the front tires were not allways spining.also, i can pull it up to a tree and it will not spin all the tires it will bog the engine down in four wheel drive but it will spin the back tires in two wheel drive.also, i have a popping noise that sometimes comes from the front end. i would like to put a coast valve or make a adjustment to the machine so it will coast.and if there are any small mods that can be done to enhance performance i would like to do so.and last were can i get somekind of manuel or information on how to service it and what fluids to use and how often to do so.thanks for any info.

Dont know if will work with the rtv but it should.if you want both tires in the front to pull simply press the brake pedal a little bit this will fool the limited slip in the front dif an cause both tires to pull.it worked on all limited slip atvs an it worked on my john deere hpx.

it has been well taken care of it does show some ware but it is a 06 mech. great shape cosmet. good no problem no leaks and does not smoke or use oil i am the second owner and it has not been mud riding or abused.
