first check the easy stuff.... put it in neutral on a flat surface and see it it rolls easy? if it does then the brakes arent seized. in order for it to move in gear the hst speed lever must travel free and not spin on the shaft...not so common but check anyway. while your back there check the high pressure relief poppet to make sure it releases and resets properly. might lube it and cycle it a few times also. check these things and check back??? please? jack up the rear wheels off of the ground put in gear and throttle up to see if the rear wheels will spin without resistance??
I have it jacked up, removed the HST lever, push the lever forward and turned the wheels forward while in gear to see if it would prime. Did not work. I will check those things when I get home. You guys are great. My son (12years old) and I are learning as we go.

if you can spin the wheels by hand that eliminates the brakes from the problem. next thing is check the high pressure relief poppet.

it is on the upper rear corner of the hst. look for a sheet metal cam that operates when the brakes are pushed. pushing the brake peddle down hard actuates the cam that depresses the poppet and relieves the high pressure and allows easy shifting. if it gets stuck in the high side can't build pressure.

with the engine running transmission in neutral push down the peddle and push in the poppet a few times and let it reset a few times. do you feel more resistance than with the engine off?
That was one of the first things I noticed. It was stuck. I took it off, took it apart, cleaned it and put it back in. The pressure seems to be the same when I push on the pedal(on or off).

just to be clear---the feel of pressure i was reffering to was on the poppet not the peddle? can you feel more resistance on the poppet with the engine running peddle down than you can engine off?

No. I also took pictures with the pedal pressed and released. I also pull the yellow filter off after it running for a few minutes and shift the gears. Very little oil came out.376FC3E9-4EC1-4144-9050-8DBFE0B84B33.jpegB1A614E6-F0B7-478E-BB95-584FC7B3CCC9.jpeg217F71D7-FA46-4685-A1BC-5EFE6D5A7069.jpeg59FAE979-CE49-499B-975C-D0BFF1EDD0AA.jpeg

there should be a small air gap between the cam and the poppet stem with the brake released. you should adjust this before you proceed. make sure the poppet stem is fully out with a small air gap. but the suction filter being empty isn't good. it could be the charge pump is dry and wont pull oil or it could be worn out. i would try to get oil into the charge pump through the suction filter or port and see if it will pull oil and prime?

Ok. I will try to get oil in it. It had oil in it before I changed the filters, so fingers crossed I can get oil in it and it primes.

Have not had a chance to try to prime the pump. Also trying to figure out how to prime it manually. Any suggestions? I was thinking I needed to remove the filter, fill the filter with oil and then pump oil into the pump through the filter ports. I know I would loose some as I did that but maybe enough to get it primed. Thoughts?
just checking. have to get that charge pump primed

i would first try to remove the suction filter and fill it with oil then put it back on real fast. if that didn't work i would consider to sacrifice a filter by punching a hole in it with a center punch so that the hole was on top,and then fill the filter with oil and put a sheet metal screw in the hole to seal it. then start the engine to see if it will prime. you can always remove the screw and repeat. then if it primes you can put on a new filter. i wouldn't drill a hole but use a center punch to avoid drill cuttings. don't use a self tapping screw either for same reasons.

So I was able to get oil into the pump. Still not success. Thoughts?
What is interesting is I pumped some oil out of the it had a gray tint (picture attached). I had drained and put new fluid in both places. The siphoned out some oil below the yellow cap(picture attached).
