Site Problem or is it me?

I seem to spend too much time looking at a dark screen with NetTractorTalk and and ad at the top of it, and nothing else. I wind up backed out to Chrome several times trying to read all the new posts each day when I come by. I am using Winders 7 Prof and then Chrome as my brouser. Thinking about upgrading to Linux and to heck with Bill and microsofty. I definitely aint goin' to Winders 8.anything. I have fairly good DSL and no problems anywhere else. I can click on a thread that shows to have new posts and may have to wait a little for it to appear then click on show first unread and it may appear or not, after everythin' is read backin' back out, to get to the next thread, is a real pain, may click on the refresh arrow a few times etc. It seems to get worse the longer I am here. Is there something I need to change in the Chrome settings? Winders 7? Still kinda new but this is getting aggrevatin.

I use Mozilla Firefox with success.

Try that for a test. You can have multiple browsers at one time just default to the one you like when it asks that question. (Chrome, Firefox, IE, etc.)

I'd clear out all the history, cashe and cookies as well as upgrading to the latest browser if you haven't already.

I use Chrome on my desktop with Win 8.1 and a Chromebook laptop with none of the issues you describe. I also use Firefox and Opera with success.

I use a program called CCleaner, that is free, set to run each time my computer starts, that cleans out all kinds of old files and keeps your system purring along.

For me, an old guy who sees no need to upgrade his state of the art/best you can buy 2005 Dell desktop and the same level of tech Dell 2007 17" lap top running XP and firefox...........NO problems in the past NOR now...........

Surely not techie enough to suggest what to do. That's why I don't upgrade my software or hardware.........if it ain't broke, don't fix it..........God bless......Dennis

Not you, its a site problem. This site stated acting up a couple of days ago. It well work for a bit then act up. I just kill it and go read other stuff. Hang in there, they well find the problem and fix it.

I've had the same experience as Orange Buggy, My screen is very slow loading and may need to be refreshed a time or 2. This morning, a pop up said something about" de bugging" but I had to leave and didn't pursue it. If it pops up again I will let ya'll know exact words.

Likewise, no problems noted.

I might have seen a delay occasionally waiting for an ad to load, but I thought it was elsewhere instead of here.

Using Vista here on this laptop; Win7 back in town on the desktop.

Both have Firefox. AdblockPlus turned off here, but generally used elsewhere.

Its been hit and miss.Ive found dome dns servrs have issues with the site and other dns servers dont. I manually set my own dns servers to the most reliable ones instead of letting my isp auto select them for me.If you need a list of relyable dns servers let me know.It may help.

Mark, I think you have identified the problem: some users only have access to poor DNS service.

I have seen delays elsewhere waiting for 'yimg' (?) which is apparently an ad host site. If the page here calls for an offsite ad from an unknown location, everything can stop until that ad is found.

lol shinnery thats how things work lol
for normal usage you can use for dns numbers 8.8.8.8 for dns 1 and use 8.8.4.4 for dns 2 if you want to be real secure i can get you different dns numbers but it blocks you from a lot of things as its a real secure DNS. you you can google good dns numbers comodo is very secure so it wont let you go to some places .there is also an app that you can run to find the fastest dns. There are a lot of options. If you or anyone else needs more info feel free to let me know.We dont want anyone to not be able to get into here. This site is a golden child for us RTV people.Plus its a great way to keep up with all of the great friends Ive made here over the years.

I've reviewed server logs and see no issues. Nor do I experience the problem. I'll guess that it's network. 3 of those who had the issue were south. Two in Texas and BC in Mississippi.
Can any network gurus give us a hint what might be going on?

Tonight for the first time in ages I'm seeing long load times here and at FF. Pages that normally take 15-20 seconds(picture intensive) are taking 10-15 minutes to load. No other web sites have been an issue.

Thanks Doc, For me it stated about 3 or 4 days ago. What its doing in my case is the site opens ok, but when you go to a new or even an older post the screen goes gray with some of the adds at top still showing. Takes forever to open. I'm having no problems any place else. I'm no wiz on these things so I have no idea what's going on. Thanks for your help though as it may be on this end also.

Yep, mine is like Orange Buggy's. I think I got a java update about the same time the problems started... could that be it...?
