Tie-Down Straps for RTV1100?

I'm a fan of "the bigger the better". I don't trailer my RTV often but I normally use Grade-80 chains on any rolling load bigger then an ATV.

A lot of it is determined by your State's DOT requirements (for rolling loads).

I use the 2" ratchet style and they have never failed, the 1" "motorcycle" non ratchet seem to work loose. JH

when i tow my rhino i use the winch to hold it to the front of the trailer then i put two ratchet straps on each side in the front and two in the rear. and when possible i use wheel chocks.

PA DEP has very strict requirements of securing trailered loads of practically any size/weight. Even the trailer connections to the tow vehicle has DEP requirements. Such as... the emergency chains must be criss-crossed and the tow hooks themselves must have a keeper clip on them. Might be good to heed BC's advice and check out what is required in your particular state or province.

On the RTV, we use the 4" Cargo Strap & winch.
(Winch is welded on trailer)
Always back RTV up onto trailer.
Strap runs over the hictch. Binds down good !!!

Then, have other on front straps, that pulls the machine forward &
down. That way the machine is cross-binded & secure.

Everyone is different when I tow mine I drive it on the trailer in the forward position and run a chain from one side of the trailer to the front trailer hitch then to the other side then use a binder to tighten it up on the rear from one side of the trailer to the rear hitch then to the other side then a binner.I keep forward pressure on the front one and rerar pressure on the rear so it roll back and forth.

Two: do you secure your windshield when your RTV is trailered and towed facing backwards?

No, it latches pretty good.
But also, I have a piece of Coraplast, plastic sign board that I cover the back sliding back window during transport. So that alone takes much pressure off the front window.
But before I got the sliding back glass, never covered anything and had no
problems.

Thank you, Sir. I'm going to trailer my 900 in coming days ... have some concern for the windshield. I don't have a back window, so the windshield is gonna be in a lotta wind and buffeting, irrespective of direction in which the mule is loaded.

Gonna be in the Rivah City this weekend ... 50-year NHS reunion. I won't know how to behave around that buncha old geezers.

.

Another thing I thought of before. Tie a rope ( or rachet strap, with ratchet inside cab.) threw the cab and go around glass
Tie inside cab. We have put cardboard on back mesh before.

You just don't want oncoming traffic to throw something into the machine.
The replacement is not cheap., for I've done replaced on Kubota windshield.
It's a gutless feeling.

Tell me about it ... I'm on my second windshield. They don't come cheap. I'll lay something ... sheet of cardboard, probably ... on the windshield and secure it properly.

My suggestion is:

Go to a sign company, ask for a 4x8 sheet of CORAPLAST,
Colors cost more, but white should run you about Eleven $,
That what it is at our shop.

Coraplast is a product just like cardboard. But plastic. You can mold it
to the curves of the machine. Can cut it with a sharp blade, X-acto blade
is what I use. IF it gets wet, don't fall apart. Use of many things.
Get you a sheet and cover the glass. Or, get two, cut to size, and
sandwhich, then take a few rachet straps, and secure. Back onto trailer.

Close friend of mine purchased a RTV last year,Told him how I haul mine (backwards). On the way home meet a vehicle that must of kicked up a rock. Glass gone. He just turned around and went back to the shop. Asked him why he didn't run it up in the trailer backwards, his reply: " Was going to starting tomorrow". >>>>>>>>>>> in my mind I was thinking, I needed to make him a sign >>>>> :whip:
