Any of you boys have any ideas/suggestions on how to mount the WARN switch to the RTV 900 dash?

Mine is mounted where the turn signal switch should be but it is switch not a stand alone unit like yours. Yours looks like a handle bar mount so you might try mounting it on the shifter stalk. That way it would be right where your hand is as you operate the shifter. Perfect for plowing snow as that's where the hand it quite often.

I thought it must be like the ACME Switch Wiley Coyote uses to catch the Roadrunner. I don't believe my 900 will catch a chapparal (roadrunner).

just order the hand remote if it didn't come with one.they also sell wireless remotes for them too.i never used that handle bar remote on any of my winchs simply because you can't see how the cable is winding up.i rather be in front my rhino and work the winch cable left to right to spool it up if you don
t do this you will get your cable jammed up if it spools all to one side this will damage the winch and also damage your cable.. also when you need to let cable out it's best to free spool it that way your not heating up the motor for nothing.check ebay

here ya go this is what you need

I've got a Warn winch on my rhino too. If self recovering, I use the dash switch. If pulling something or someone else, I use the plug in controller.

If self recovering you learn to vary your approach to the anchor and not puddle up the cable in one spot. :)

yea you got that right I had a warn winch for over 6 years I took it apart every year during the winter when we don't ride much. take all the gears out and clean them and repack it with grease it lasted along time til my buddy with another rhino tried to pull me out.i hooked the winch cable to him and I got back in my rhino to work the winch plus give it a little peddle to help. I looked up and they had about 8 feet of slaxk in the cable and my buddy floored his rhino before I could stop him he stripped out one of the main gears in it so I retired it to my box of winch parts I ended up getting a travelers winch from tractor supply for 179.00 it's a 4500 lbs winch and for the price I figured I would give it a try .so far it done yanked me out of some big holes .the last hole I got stuck in I was in the middle of a pondi ran all the cable out and even a 20 foot strap but I was 4 feet short from reaching the tree so my son parked hix grizzly in between me and the tree .I hooked on to the back of his grizzly and then hooked the strap to the front and around a treethe tree was a good 5 maybe 6 inchs in diameter and I dragged him to me and also pulled the tree down too.ended up finding a bigger tree and I got out but the winch never even sounded like it was workin hard.if anyone is looking for a winch I recommend the traveler winch at tractor supply .also if any of you have a winch that doesn't work and you want me to look at it just ship it to me and i'll tell you what parts to buy and i'll repair it for free.

I killed my RT30 after six months of use. I tripled the rope but still stalled it trying to pull my Son's Jeep Buggy out of a swamp. Had the Rhino tied to a tree. Something had to give. Got him out but it was the death of the winch.

Not flaming here, just expressing my experiences. Currently I only own Warn winches. After I fried the RT30 I boxed it up and sent it to a warranty repair shop. They replaces the motor with new, sent it back to me, only cost me the one way freight.

We use winches hard on our buggies. Even use em to make trail repairs. :)

that was my only let down about the warn it was a 2500lbs the rhino only weighed 1100 lbs and the brake wouldn't hold it. warn is good but you do pay for a name when you buy them just like craftsman. when winching myself out of a hole with it I would have to bump it then when I would get out to make sure the cable was spooling right I had to lock the emergency brake to try not to loose and ground I gained if not the winch would just let it role right back into the hole.

I've sure never experienced that.

Only a couple guys in our group use 8k on buggies. Most use 9k or bigger.

If buying one for the RTV I think I'd go at least 4k.

Found a spot for the WARN switch. I had to mount it upside down to get a good fit.

That oughta work!!!

Do all the Warn ATV winches come with that type switch now? Did it also come with the wired remote with 10ft cord?

I don't know if they all come with that switch. They do have dash switch one can buy as a extra. This worked great because on the switch itself there is a plug for the 10 ft remote.

I have one or two remotes if you need it. and I also have a few of them handle bar switchs too so if your ever goes out just let me know you can have them.as for as the winch size oversized is right I would go with a 4k or higher. the rtv is heavy enough as it is but if your in a hole with mud caked tires that will add almost double the weight. my brother has a crane company and he has a dyno if I ever get the chance I would like to put my rhino in a nice hole and hook it up just to see how much more it weighs .

here's some pics of the rhino stuck. the one with the big rut that me and my son are standing in is the one I broke my winch on. and yes the rhino dug that rut.lol

Interesting shots..FUN FUN! but not for me. I need mine to work around the farm and in my timber. I wouldn't want to clean it up afterwards let alone damage something...must be our age difference :tiphat:

yea it does take a while to clean it up after about 4 hours . but it's fun we have a blast I ain't that young turn 47 in a few months.
