What did you do today with your RTV?

Images are here from a past post.

20 minutes to install the pump,10 minutes to install the cylynder and about 30 minutes ro run the lines cause im picky. The switch fits right in one of the open switch slots on the dash.I used the open slot next to the head light switch. So all in all about an hours time to install.Everything fits great and instructions are very easy to follow.
If you order one ask for Dale and tell him I sent ya maybe he will cut you a break.

I hauled another ton and 1/2 of gravel. Sure do love that dump bed. I have a place on my trail that is a huge mud puddle, just about could call it a lake. I trenched it and added a drain pipe to get the water level down, once it had dried out some I added the gravel. Still had some soft spots where I had not driven over that part. If I stepped in that area I would sink up to the knee. I only know that cause I ended up stepping in it one time when i lost my balance moving the gravel. :yum: I didn't even have on my slop boots at the time, just an old pair of tennis shoes. I was lucky to get my foot out of the hole with the tennis shoe still on. The suction of the hole pulled the shoe half off but I was able to barely keep my foot in it. Whew. What a mess I was. :yum: Did I mention I love that dump bed!!!!! I will be spreading gravel to lots of places on my trails that have needed it for years.

If you have deep spots like that gather up some bigger field stones and put in the bottom. It saves a lot of gravel and gives it a base. I always have a pile or 2 around here to grab with the skid steer or backhoe. I gather most of them out of my hayfields with the kubota and dump them in piles for later.

I have some bigger stuff that was tore up concrete, not as handy as field stone but I was planning to put that on the soft muddy side of this mud hole. I was hoping it would dry up more before I placed it so don't ya know it's rained the past three days and supposed to rain daily from here till Saturday. :pat:

Dump it in an use that natures water level so you know how much you need. It sure helps to stabilize the holes for a good repair with the gravel. My backhoe weighs 17,500 lbs. and with a full bucket of gravel or dirt I can get excellent compaction with the front tires to pack it down. Have one more washout to fix in my one woods road but need to do some briar and windfall cutting to get in there first. The RTV can cross it but it sure ain't easy as it is almost 2 ft. deep. Sure flexes it driving across as at least one wheel is in mid air when you do.

Have any of you used any Portland Cement mixed in with whatever you fill
a hole up with.
Comes in a powder form.

This is what many down here use to "fix a hole"...

Mix some up with dirt, or gravel, or sand. etc .. etc .... and put in hole.

Put water on top or wait for a rain. Let it set .....
Hole fixed , FOREVER....

or if one has access to limestone. That will work great and set up proper......

Road construction down here mixes portland cement with ground dirt
here. The have a big "tiller" if you want to call it that. Proper name is a
Stabilizer. They spread with a spreader about 1-2 inches of Portand on top,
run Stabilizer over it and let it mix it with natures ground. Sets up like
cement. Good Road work .....

Video give one a idea. Don't have to be big, what ever size you need ....

I have used a simial method when the money gets tight.1 bag of readymix to 2 bags of sand.Sand here is free as I have 10 acres of it lol.Key to the job is mix well and tamp it down and keep it moist by applying a mist of water on it so it dosnt cure to fast.Cement will dry while wet believe it or not.You can place a 35 pound bad of cement on water wait a week and pull the bag out and it will be solid as a rock.Larger drain stone works well for them deep holes.Stay away from pea gravel and smaller stones as they just wash away. But best results and less cost is a cement and dirt or sand mix as I stated or as in the video i watched anter posting this lol.Hey Im slow on saturdays.

I like the readymix / quick crete idea. I have used that for deck posts but never for a hole in the road. Worth a try for sure.

I hauled a couple tons of wood and supplies needed for building 64 ft of dock space to the river in the past couple days. today we built the docks and get em done in one day. I'll have pics to share once I get em uploaded. RTV is a workhorse. I love it.

Oh yeah, I filled up for the first time this weekend. Took me 5 months to run out my first tank of gas. Kinda lame huh, but as others have said RTV's do get good gas mileage.

I usually fill mine once or twice a year. Don't use much hauling grass clippings and trash. Need to take a ride down the woods road with the chain saw and loppers to cut some things back from storms this winter.

Spent all day camouflaging the rtv. Actually cleaning up the low hanging branches on the trails to my food plots

RTV got a break today (at least the beginning of the day) as I had to undercoat the bottom of our old houseboat before we put it in the water. Got home at 4 and decided to go down to the new docks and add the solar lights I got for them, and cook out some brats. Loaded up the RTV and headed down, no sooner did we get there than a big old thunder boomer showed up. Stayed mostly dry driving the 3/4 mile back to the house in pouring rain. Thank goodness for the roof. :thumb:

Sat and watched mine get a suntan while i was working on the pop up camper.Picked up a used pop up and re conditioning it for summer camping trips.Im to damn old for tents anymore

Mine has been getting easy use for the past few weeks. Hauling beehives and some wood for the kettle. Use it as a work bench to clean the hive frames after boiling them. It is handy for catching swarms if they are not too high off the ground. pics won't load right now.

MULEMAN,

HEY,
That impresses the heck out of me.

Always wanted to do that !!!!
This is good !!! Thanks much for sharing the pictures ......

......... jamie

We got a call to go remove a swarm about 20 miles from our place. Was an easy one as it was only 4ft. off the ground. Now we have eleven hives going. Can't finish frames and get boxes painted fast enough these days.

That is amazing to me. Keep up the good work.... Keep the pictures coming !!!!!

That is a many of bees ....

.......... jamie

I agree muleman, very neat! We have had a hive in the old cedar tree- front yard for as long as I have been here- over 20 years. That's them around the knot hole. Ya'll come down for a visit and check it out :) That is so interesting ! Thank you for the pictures . bordercollie

Have not seen many bees lately in our area...Don't know what's happening to them...Glad to see they are doing well elsewhere.

Bear

Used the winch on the RTV 1100 to assist State Game Wardens recoverer a 525-550 pound black bear that had been shot and killed. The bear was about 200-250 feet in to the woods. The Wardens really appreciated the help.

Beautiful male black bear. Real sin that someone killed him. He has been a pain in the community, however mostly it is people feeding animals, etc.

The Wardens seem like they really want to solve this one. I wish them well.

XTROOPER

NOTE: I am aware this is posted near the posts with the beekeeper. I am sure he has his share of bear problems, or probably a good electric fence. You simply can not keep a hive around here without a good electric fence, I would not even try.
