..... Doing some hunting in Mississippi. We have some hills and hollers that seems that if you fall off of them, it will be supper time before you hit bottom.
Some are really spooky and dangerous. But don't get me wrong, it is some beautiful land and woods. Lot of this land in almost untouched.
Been using the RTV, but for some reason, I decided to bring the Honda Rubicon.
As you know, you leave your RTV in gear and running, you don't have to worry about it going anywhere. Just jump out and go, return and take off.
With the Rubicon, IT IS NOT THAT WAY . And like to have cost me this machine.
Went and checked all the game cameras. Changing out batteries and memory cards. And also, was going to "Trim" some low lying limbs that would hit you in the RTV or Rubicon going threw. And going in and out during the night, that ain't good ...... . Brought a limb sheer and was doing really good. ...... UNTIL , there was a limb, just before you top a VERY long steep hill.
And the trail going up is just big enough for a vehicle to climb. It was a very long hill..... On both sides, is a drop off and very deep. Nothing would survive at all.
When I stepped off to cut the limb, I grabbed the sheer and took a few steps to the left and reached up to cut. Could not reach exactly where I wanted to cut, and I tried, and I stretch out again and again, and finally, finally got it where I wanted and " I CUT THE DAMN LIMB", HECK, I was out of breath. It Took long enough.
With myself facing AWAY from the machine. LEAVING THE RUBICON RUNNING AND don't really know if it was in gear or not ....... (It's not a KUBOTA RTV, OK ) .
I heard something, but just stood there wondering what that was I heard, some "russelling" sound. Leaves rumbling and sound like something moving. Could not figure where it was coming from. And don't know why I didn't hear the engine just fade away.....
Then, to my horror, I turned around and the damn Rubicon was gone. Now let me say, I just stood there thinking, " hell, there was a full size four-wheeler sitting there a minute ago". THEN IT HIT ME.
I looked down the steep hill, and at the bottom of the hill, WAY DOWN THERE in the middle of the trail, sat my Honda Rubicon, just idleing.
It rolled by itself, down that hill like it had somebody on it guiding it. ( And it did, ........... GOD !!!! ) I will never be that lucky again. I went down the hill, shut down the machine. And bowed my head and prayed !!!!!
Never will I be so lucky again !!!
Came home, told Mrs. Two Guns.
She said, " Well, Lesson learned, IT'S NOT A RTV !!!!! NEVER LEAVE THE KUBOTA "..... and I have to agree >>>>>
